Temporary work permit - Transferring with my company

I am transferring the Calgary office of my current company. Lawyers are preparing all the documents for me that I'll need at the border. Apparently, I just show up to the border with my documentation and ask for a temporary work permit. Has anyone been through this process before and do you...

Advice regarding medicals, possibly lost or not received by CIC

Yeah, I just wish I'd followed up sooner or at least been more forceful about it. I checked with the doctor a month ago, and they correctly assured me that my medicals had been sent. Of course they had no idea that a clerk would misspell my name. The key item I think everyone should take...

Advice regarding medicals, possibly lost or not received by CIC

I discovered yesterday that my frustration was justified. I had the doctor performed my medical exam look into why my medicals hadn't been received. Turns out Ottawa sent my medicals under the name "Jsaon" while my name is "Jason." So I've been waiting around for the last month because a...

Advice regarding medicals, possibly lost or not received by CIC

Thank you so much for that information. I just faxed Ottawa. I'm still hopeful that they're just taking their time and I'll receive my PPR in the next week or so. Everyone else around my AOR date has received some sort of notification. I'll let you know if and how they respond.

Advice regarding medicals, possibly lost or not received by CIC

I need some advice. I had my medicals completed back in May before I submitted my application for PR through my wife's sponsorship. I received by AOR letter on July 8. It did not not mention the medicals other than they needed to be completed with 30 days if they had not already been done...

I am confused in regards to Medical?

I received a form that the doctor completed stating the medical had been done that was sent in with the paper work. They attached one of the four photos I brought with me to the form.

How do I make sure my medical results were received?

A response to a post on another forum has me a little concerned. When I check e-cas, it states that my application is "In process." Click on the "In Process" and it states they started processing my application on July 8. The explanation on the website is that they have 1. received my...

    Life savings

My wife and I will be moving to Canada hopefully in the next few months. When we move we will want to bring out savings accounts with us. Can we open a saving account in Canada with American funds without incurring a substantial conversion fee? Will Canadian banks accept a cashier's check...

Traveling back and forth from Canada to U.S. while application is in process

Wish I'd thought to do my medical in Canada instead of the U.S. I paid $400 for my medical in Boston, but I live only about 4 or 5 hours from Magog, Quebec. Oh well, with gas costing $4.20/gallon, it might have been a wash anyway.

    FBI fingers prints? (ASAP please)

Thanks KayCee. I took GK's advice and sent off for the state background checks just in-case. It cost me an extra $50, but it's worth the peace of mind and saving three weeks if they happen to ask for it. Since the CIC can ask for state background checks, I would suggest doing them in advance...

    Priority queue

My AOR letter from Buffalo states that my file has been placed into a "priority queue." Does anyone have experience with this? I imagine the priority status is a good thing, I'm just trying to get an idea as to how good.

    FBI fingers prints? (ASAP please)

Anyone have any experience with California background checks? The form to request the check states that it cannot be used for immigration purposes.

    FBI fingers prints? (ASAP please)

Now you've got me worried. The instructions state that Federal is required, state records may be requested from the processing agency. My application has allready been sent to Buffalo for priority processing? Any suggestions? Should I get started on state background checks now in-case they...

    FBI fingers prints? (ASAP please)

I would suggest calling the non-emergency line of your local police station. Explain that you need a finger print card for an FBI background check. My local police precinct charged me $5 per set.

Received PR - Here is my processing time for Buffalo

I hope I have a similar experience. My wife and I submitted our application around May 20th. She was approved to sponsor June 20th. We received notification that my application is receiving priority status from Buffalo. I'd love to have this all said and done by the end of August.

Moving to Canada while outside sponsorship is being processed

My wife and I are just starting the process for her to sponsor me. We live together in the United States. Once the process is started, can we visit Canada for an extended period? That is, can she get a job, move to Canada, and have me visit for an extended period while the application goes...
