ddobro2, did you convey the spreadsheet duties onto awor? Regardless, just a quick note of great thanks for those who do this work. The forum is great, but the spreadsheet really gives you some perspective, and helped me understand what might be happening. Thank you for all your hard work...

Been a while, since we paid prior to application, but in my case, 'sponsor' paid, but 'applicant's credit card was used. And since we're married, there's not a lot of distinction to me -- and so it seems to CIC in my case anyway. I'm guessing that since sponsor sometimes doesn't mean spouse...

ddobro2: My file # was mistyped in the PPR email sent to me. Didn't seem to matter, but basic errors like that are quite serious. Since they also only every communicated with me by email, I consider myself lucky that they didn't mis-type the email address -- or I could've been waiting for...

LANDING IN CANADA ??? -All You Need To Know.

Greetings all, I did land, just a while ago, and posted to another thread my story with getting a SIN. Am US Citizen, now landed Canadian Permanent Resident. The officer at Service Canada was not aware of the new COPR process, where you don't get a counterfoil. He checked for mine in my...

I received my SIN# with passport and COPR form just a couple of days after landing (just recently). I waited about an hour at Service Canada in Vancouver (Main/11th). Had a very helpful agent. He was a supervisor of some sort, helping out to keep waits down. He looked at my COPR, and then...

Since I'm in the computer industry, I hate to admit that I didn't see button. (hope my stupidity is a lesson to others.) Thanks, ddobro2...

Not expert here, and frankly a little groggy this day -- but research this very well before choosing credit vs. exclusion. If I remember right, the credit is usually recommended because unused credit can be carried forward. Or maybe its the other way around. So my point is to be pretty sure...

I tried, but failed to print B4 forms at home. They look like they're not letter sized, but something larger -- which I was unable to print. Just something to look out for.

Landed! Just a bit under 7 months. Hard to believe its done. So I got home here in BC -- legally now -- and checked my email. ECAS was updated about 4 hours BEFORE I got to Peace Arch to say 'decision made'. They must have seen me coming. The landing wasn't much to report on. Very low key...

ddobro2: This weill speed up processing -- indirectly. The goal of ECAS is likely not just to keep applicants happy -- but to allow some insight into the process. Its not perfect -- and may never be. But it is likely to improve and it has effects. CIC does measure their performance. And...

So do tell about your experience so far. I understand there were some changes w/ a new IMM-0008 form done somewhat electronically / fillable ????

You can start one! But I found that this thread was much more relevant than the June 2011 thread for me. The June 2011 thread covers too many different types of applicants -- this is mostly -- although now 100% US emigrants (gee, never used that word -- is that right?)

Got another landing question -- I hope to land tomorrow at Blaine or Peach Arch. If I schedule vehicles as 'to follow', how long do I have before they must follow? I have one car here that would be easy enough, but another back in Michigan. Not planning to move it until weather is better for...

Congratulations to you! It does amaze me that they'd use email addresses, but not require any verification step. Being a governmental agency, you'd think that they'd be quite concerned that they're talking to the right person.

Question on taxes & residency: Its clear to me that the US IRS continues to tax US Citizens resident in Canada (as well as anywhere else). But what is the situation w/ state taxes? Does your last state of residence have a claim?

LANDING IN CANADA ??? -All You Need To Know.

Can anyone advise if I really do need to bring 2 or 3 photos (pr size) to landing? When I received my COPR recently, they returned one of the two photos I sent along with my passport. I'm guessing that this photo is intended for the PR card, but don't know. I don't mind dropping the $10 at...

Re: Question re: change in status of application PPR or Passport Request is when the appropriate visa office requests that you mail them your passport so they can insert the 'permanent resident' visa stamp. (Note that as of 1 Dec 2011 this is changing a bit). This is the indication that...
