I submitted to VFS Global New York. They transmitted it to IRCC Office. I don't know which one -- perhaps Ottawa ? See taking time on any step is ok but keeping someone's passport with you for a month and counting when they themselves in a 3rd country is not ok in my opinion.

Yes I did and they told me they cannot see anything beyond what is available to me via their application tracker. They can see the application is complete and is with IRCC. They cannot expedite the process with IRCC. They are just a 3rd party company enabling communication between me and IRCC...

I submitted my passport for getting Permanent Resident Visa stamp and COPR document on Sept 7th to VFS Global New York. It went to IRCC office from there on Sept 13th. I am still waiting to hear back from IRCC. This week will be 4th week in their possession.

I am in same boat as you. My Passport reach IRCC office on Sept 13th and I am still waiting as of today. Don't know how much more time will it take. But I find it very odd that they keep someone's passport for this long.

For me that didn't happen. I keep checking those details every now and then. Take screen shot to send as attachment and please write to IRCC using webform.
