You can apply for a skilled workers visa and in the mean time come to canada on a WHP. However if your skilled workers visa as not been approved after the whp year is over, you'll have to return to your country.

As I understand it, it's not possible to extend your working holiday visa. I am in Canada with my working holiday visa as well, and would be very happy to learn that it can be extended.

According to this page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/processing.asp in same cases it's possible to start processing a work permit application before the LMO (labour market opinion) has been approved. My question is, if they will actually approve the permit before the LMO has been received...
