Same boat. Have the exactly same timeline of AIP and background check but I applied in Feb and still waiting for the BG check. So I can totally feel you. Same concern, too.

From my experience, my sponsor also received the same update in the tracker, but we called the IRCC, and were told that they didnt send anything. So for us, this just meant they were processing my app. No really message was sent to neithor applicant or sponsor.

I upload a Letter of Explanation through enquiry on 22 March and the IME shows completed on pr tracker on 24 March.
