Yes, that is what I did. It did not allow me to create another application until I submitted the first one. So, I submitted one after the other under the same account and received PR card for all of us. For kids, I think it does recognize and ask for parent/guardian signature at the end. Also...

I Submitted PR renewal applications online via PR portal on June 28 for family of 3. No AOR or any updates but received one of the PR card on Aug 3 and remaining two cards on Aug 9. PR portal still shows submitted.

I think once the new PR card has been shipped, the old PR card will become invalid so you will not be able to travel with the old card unless you return before the new PR card is approved/shipped. However, you can request for urgent processing of PR renewal for valid reasons like serious illness...
