    Rescheduling the Oath?

There is no mandated time for IRCC to reschedule an oath. If you search this forum, you will find that rescheduling can result in oath delays of a couple of weeks or stretching out to months. I had to reschedule my oath as I was abroad for a family funeral. I was not rescheduled for 4 months...

Curious wording on citizenship certificate: What is a "Canadian subject"?

It is an interesting choice of expression. I read it as a Canadian subject of the King of Canada, HM King Charles III, to whom we swore our oath of allegiance. That said, because under section 28 of the Citizenship Act "the Minister [of Immigration, etc] may prescribe the forms of applications...

Offering my data point: I received my Canadian passport last Thursday, and went to YVR last Friday to update my citizenship and passport on the Canadian side -the Canadian Nexus office took copies of my citizenship certificate and passport, punched in a few keystrokes on the computer and said...

    July 2022 Citizenship Applications

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. The only data point I have is that a friend who did a postal application had to sign for delivery of the passport when it arrived.

    July 2022 Citizenship Applications

They didn't have to ask - I had included a copy of my ticket with my application which they looked at and returned to me. The clerk didn't say anything other than "so you're travelling on 26 September".

    Vancouver Office Citizenship Applicants

I received the email to create the IRCC portal account at 9.16am this morning. I created the account shortly after that, but couldn't download my e-certificate at that time. I logged in at 5pm today and was able to download my e-certificate. Off to the Passport Office at first light...

    Vancouver Office Citizenship Applicants

Thanks very much. I'll wait until 48 hours have passed since my oath ceremony, and then try creating an account if I've not heard anything then. There's been no update in my tracker, but it's only been 26 hours or so since I did the Zoom oath ceremony.

Not yet. They said 2 to 5 days for electronic certificate to be available. I sent my signed oath form immediately after the ceremony. As I understand things, I must wait until I receive the email saying I can download from the IRCC Portal - is that correct?

    July 2022 Citizenship Applications

My tracker finally updated on 29 August to "Scheduled for Citizenship Oath" (on 12 September; but no email invitation yet so I don't know whether online or in person). So that was 4 months almost to the day after my initial ceremony was scheduled. EDIT: I received my Notice to Appear on 1...

    Vancouver Office Citizenship Applicants

Well, it's now 27 August and I've had no action on my file - I am still stuck at "Citizenship Oath: Not Started". I've sent in my boarding passes from when I was away and emailed the Vancouver Citizenship Ceremony email address to say "I'm here and ready to take my oath", but I've heard not a...

Outside Canada - Oath of Citizenship

I'm currently waiting for my rescheduled oath date. I was initially given 27 May (when I was going to be briefly out of Canada). I requested rescheduling on 11 May (the same date as I received my oath invitation). I've heard nothing since then from IRCC. My tracker switched to "oath ceremony...

Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide

IRCC's current view of the law is that you must be physically in Canada to make the citizenship oath in person or remotely by videolink. It is possible to reschedule your oath date at least once (there are reports on this forum of rescheduling more than once). The instructions for doing so...

    Vancouver Office Citizenship Applicants

An update from me in relation to rescheduling: my application history was updated on 22 June 2023 to "Citizenship Oath: Not started". I hope that means someone looked at my file and a rescheduled ceremony isn't too far away. Fingers crossed!

    1. The I-94 record should be enough to prove exit/entry. Remember though it is not just about proving your absence - the reason for the absence may be scrutinised. Looking at the reports from folks on this forum, most of the time (when on the face of the explanation it seems a reasonable...
