Landing in Canada as a visitor

I am a visitor in Canada being sponsored by my spouse and I finally received my perm residence app approval today. I now have to "land" so I have to either schedule an appointment (4-8 weeks) or go to a border crossing to present my papers. Obviously, I don't want to wait another 1-2 months to...

Pulling out my hair and husband is already bald

Yup, Canadians are usually really nice at the land border. At the airport, not so much but I'm sure they are tired of sitting there all day when half the people coming through don't speak English. lol

To be honest with you, I've had a harder time going back to the US. The border guards there are REALLY suspicious of everything you say. I wouldn't have expected that being a citizen. It's kind of insulting but I guess it means they take their jobs seriously. haha

hehe Yeah I know anything is possible. I know that here in Vancouver, tons of Americans and Canadians go back and forth everyday either for work or fun. Just find it a little odd that they would keep me out for wanting to become a legal canadian. haha

I have friends and family in Washington that I would like to be able to visit while this process is going on. I was hoping that if my husband was with me to vouch for me as a Canadian and we had proof of the application, and marriage, etc they wouldn't hassle us. :/

Or, can I just go to Blaine for a day of shopping and then come back into Canada with proof of an outland ap and come back in so I won't have to file the restoration?

That is interesting that you say that. I was told that once I submitted the medical exam I could not change my application status. If it is true that I can, then perhaps I should consider applying from outside. Would I then need to leave the country anyway?

Pulling out my hair and husband is already bald

I'm filling out this application for restoration again and I have a question that might be silly but I want to make sure that I have everything filled out properly. In the "My Family Members" section, should I include my husband and immediate family, or is this just intended for me and anyone I...

    Anyone with experience bringing pets?

You're probably right. I love my pets but when it could be unsafe for me to transport them half way across the world I'd rather not risk it. If I was driving, I might have considered it. Besides, in the end, it was either buy myself a plane ticket or my pets. It's sad to say but my needs come...

Pulling out my hair and husband is already bald

Thank you RobsLuv. That's exactly what I intend to do. File restoration and PR app at the same time. I can't stand the thought of purposely misleading anyone at the border in order to get my way. I want to know that I did this legally and with every good intention possible. I don't want to be...

    Anyone with experience bringing pets?

I had parrots when I lived in the states but I had to make other arrangements for them when I moved to Canada. There was no way I was paying airfare for each one and taking them all to the vet to get individual health checks. It would have cost me over $1000!

I'm still within my 90 grace period though so am I technically out of status?

Thank you very much. I realize that everyone is pretty much here for the same reasons. Looking for answers and anxious about the outcomes. I'm sorry if I've come across as "nuts" =P haha I just want to become a productive member of society asap. I've been out of work for a year due to this and...

Pulling out my hair and husband is already bald

Thank you, That was the first link I read when I came here. lol Yes, I know the difference but since I've already sent the medical form as "inland" I do not want to pay for it again as being "outland"...I thought that perhaps instead of leaving and trying to re-enter, I could send the...

Pulling out my hair and husband is already bald

The reason that we did not apply last year was because we did not have the money. Husband filed his taxes this year and now we have the money and his tax assessments, etc. Also, we were told by someone not to send the inland Spousal application until we received a response about my application...

Pulling out my hair and husband is already bald

I'm an American citizen and I have been in Vancouver, Canada as a legal visitor for the last year. I entered YVR airport in April of 2010 and my fiancée and I got married in July. I applied for a visitor visa renewal one month before it was set to expire and I explained that I was married to a...
