Hi, How do we get test notification? Do we get it by mail or e-mail?

Canada Citizenship web page estimates that it takes about 2 years to get citizenship but I see from spreadsheets of 2014 applicants that many of them get it in 8 months. Do you know how long it takes to get citizenship after the file is transferred to the local office?
