Ontario. You can get coverage for a year after AIP. IT WAS A PAIN TO DO. I had to call the head office and let them explain to the agent that it is possible etc etc. Further, I wouldn't count on OHIP as the policy changes easily.

You said you recently became a PR..Why wasn't your wife on your application as a dependent. Either as a common law partner or as your spouse...when did you become a PR and what was your martial status at the time. Were you honest with the IRCC at the time of landing,?

Right now your options are limited. If you are in Canada you can call IRCC at which point you can speak with an agent hopefully or you can contact them via the webform for an update. I am not sure the response time on the webform right now.
