Better to apply for an entry visa in the current situation. I got mine within a week, and can now travel from Nov 15th, while I wait for my OCI booklet (Applied for OCI on 13th Oct).

Hi, you need to have a Canadian passport first, as its required to fill OCI application. So I would suggest to apply for it asap, as the first step. The required checklist is available on BLs website for OCI, and yes you can complete surrender and OCI applications together

Correct, I didn’t receive the cert yet. For entry visa application, just the surrender certificate submission receipt was sufficient. As long as CGI knows that Indian passport has been surrendered and in-process, they are able to provide entry visa.

Update: I went to BLS center to apply Regular Entry visa, since India has allowed visitor visa entries from 15th Nov. Surrender Passport and OCI application date: 13th Oct Regular Visa applied Date: 15th Oct Regular Visa stamped and delivered: 25th Oct (Valid for 6 months, multiple entries)...

Did anyone apply for regular Indian visa while waiting for OCI ? If yes, can you provide the timelines for visa stamping and delivery ?

Thanks. I went to BLS Brampton today, and applied for an entry visa (without surrender certificate in hand). I attached a photocopy of the Indian passport that was surrendered. BLS center returned my surrender receipt copy and a letter explaining why I did not attach surrender certificate...

Hi Raj, I saw your signature regarding surrender passport timelines. How did you check the status on PP site. When I enter the file number (application number for surrender passport), it says no record found. BLS status shows "Processing at Consulate General". Do I need to wait for the file...
