I got the acknowledgement on OCI website on Aug 25. When can I expect my surrendered Indian passport to be returned. TO Jurisdiction. Also, when they send the Indian passport back, is there any way to track the same ?

Received acknowledgement on OCI website today. Submitted application on Aug 11 (walk-in) at TO.

Hi, does it matter to have the BLS appointment for the right category? I've an appointment with BLS for Visa - but was wondering if I can use the same for passport surrender.

Do we have to submit original Canadian passport while applying for OCI (Toronto Jurisdiction) ? Asking because it seems that it might take up to 2-3 months for OCI to process and I was wondering giving BLS my original passport will mean that I won't be able to travel anywhere during that duration.

After we receive the Canadian passport, can we apply for Indian visa and travel to India using that ? It seems getting OCI card takes a few weeks/month atleast and I've an urgent trip to India planned. Also, do we need to surrender Indian citizenship necessarily before applying for Indian visa ?
