July 6th successful soft landing experience at Detroit Windsor Tunnel

I wanted to update the thread that last week I got an email from IRCC that my PR card has been dispatched. It's been around 6 months. Also, my wife and kids' PR card is still under processing.

I used enterprise. Just tell them when you are picking the rental car that you will be crossing the border into Canada. They will put a stamp on the Rental car receipt/document.

July 6th successful soft landing experience at Detroit Windsor Tunnel

All I can say based on my experience is that AVR works. Even though we got an officer who had no clue about it and tried to questions it we still entered the US using AVR. I carried a current passport with expired visa stamp (expired in 2018), valid I797 and original I-94 (attached to I797)...

July 6th successful soft landing experience at Detroit Windsor Tunnel

I couldn't find a rule. This was based on the trend I observed and suggestions I got that I should, as a OINP candidate, land in Ontario.

July 6th successful soft landing experience at Detroit Windsor Tunnel

@pjain64 I forgot to mention in my post that I am OINP (PNP) nominee. So I had to land in Ontario. Hence I flew to Detroit. If you are direct Express Entry then you are good to cross the border at any place you desire.

July 6th successful soft landing experience at Detroit Windsor Tunnel

This post became long but I wanted to write in as much detail as possible. This forum helped me a lot and I want to give back. Have added a TLDR version if you don’t want to read the entire post. TLDR: At Canada Border: We had really smooth experience at the Canadian side. Both the officer we...

Landed on July 3rd and was not issued PR card

I have only ever heard of one experience where someone was turned away and he eventually was able to soft land in the second try. I don't want to get into an argument but I want to make sure people who are trying to soft land are not scared away. I know how stressful soft landing can be (last...

Landed on July 3rd and was not issued PR card

This depends on the officer at the POE. I did successfully complete my PR landing today. Clearly told officer (infact twice - to both officers with whom I interacted with) that I will like to return immediately if possible and was allowed to do it. Also my PR card was applied and will be sent to...

    Soft Landing/Moving to Canada

Once you land in Canada, and become PR, and then travel to US to work for your US employer (and you are not working remote) - I don't think this situation is any different from the example above.

If your extension is under progress you should consult your attorney. As I remember it's not advisable to travel outside when a petition is under progress for H1/H4. Canada is a grey area since technically if you use AVR, then you won't get a new I-94.

You must have a visa stamped on your passport. That is for travel. You have time till visa expiry date to travel.

    Soft Landing/Moving to Canada

Both tunnel and the bridge go to Windsor. This is what I know from google maps, I have never been to the area. May be someone more knowledgable of the area can confirm. We planned to do the landing on 3rd as well initially but after the new notification of Canadian government now planning to...
