I didn't have a travel ticket but presented proof of need from a potential employer. A ticket is equally good :)

I expressed a need to have it within 3-25 days... submitted in person at a regular Service Canada office... not one of the 35 offices in Canada doing urgent processing.

Here goes my final update: Certificate Received: May 3 Applied for Passsport: May 6 Passport Received: May 27 The rest of the track is in my signature. Good luck to everyone who is waiting and congratulations to all those who reached the end of the line!
