"Has your sponsor visited you" question

I answered no but then explained the reason why (in our case it was because my wife had 2 young children to look after making it prohibitively expensive for her to visit, it was more convenient for me to visit her) & the numbers & frequencies at which I'd visited her. I had trouble with a lot of...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Mine was actually 6 months old when I filed the application & wasn't questioned at all! We got delayed horribly sending in our application when my wifes tax office managed to lose some of her information & we had to wait over 5 months for them to sort it out. I had another police check form all...

    Things to Bring When Moving?

My advice would be to work out how much it would cost to ship items to Canada, then look up the price of simply replacing them once you arrive! In my case all I brought was my laptop, camera & my 2 bikes! In my case the cost of the excess baggage fees for my bikes was significantly cheaper than...

Landing this week :) List of goods is driving me bonkers :)

I think it's more important to make sure you make a list of "goods to follow" especially if you're intending on having things shipped rather than carrying the yourself. If you haven't had the list stamped upon your entry as a PR you WILL be charged import duty on anything thats been shipped & is...

    Spousal sponsorship

In my case I looked at buying a one way ticket from Air Canada from London, UK, to Vancouver for my landing this past weekend. The return ticket was $450 CHEAPER than the one way :o I bought a return instead! Even if I'd paid more & bought a refundable ticket I wouldn't have saved anything.

Can you move out of Canada after you get your PR and still keep it?

You have to be resident in Canada for a total of 2 years out of 5 to keep the PR

    Landing confusion

Well in my experience they don;t actually examine the goods you're bringing in! If it's high value goods, like laptops (& in my case a bicycle worth $3000) list it on its own, with the serial number. Other things can just be grouped together (ie. books, or clothes or whatever) If in doubt I'd...

Landing at Pearson5:30pm-connecting flight 7:00pm, can we make it?

Just to add my opinion that you're not leaving anywhere near enough time! I landed at Vancouver airport on saturday afternoon. Due to bad luck I arrived just after 2 delayed flights had arrived at the airport from China & Japan repsectively, I had to stand in line for 2 hours about behind about...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Just thought I'd post here to let everyone know I landed on Saturday ;D THe landing process was very straightforward, though due to 2 other filghts being delayed & arriving at Vancouver airport at the same time as mine, I had about 40 chinises students in front of me & as a result was left...

    How did you meet?

I met my wife online too. We were both members of a random forum, I happened to post some photos of my dogs in a thread that she commented on. Then I posted some photos I'd taken around the city I work in (I'm a bit of an amatuer photographer) & she commented on those too. We pm'ed each other a...

    Family Information form...HELP !!!

I would suggest listing all of the siblings that you know of. If you don't have full information on all of them (date of birth, addresses & the like) write an extra explanatory letter explaining the backgroud & why you don't know the details. It's better to provide as much information as you're...

    Latest book

My main books Iwas reading through the application wait were all Canada related. I felt that if I was gonna live there I should swot up on the place a bit, make a bit of an effort! :P So I read: The Penguin History of Canada. unsuprisingly very east coast biased, it mentioned BC twice I think...

    Conditional Visa's - It's Happening!

! For me I see this in the same way I see many populist government proposals. On the face of it seems like a good, common sense initiative. It seems hard at first glance to see any problems with it. It's a way to stop all but the most determined fraudsters while not having any major impact on...

confused re: "addresses where you have lived" IMM 5002 (01-2006) E

I did the same, spent ages piecing together dates I'd traveled, filled it all out on the form then realised it was only for the paris office! I could have saved myself a weeks worth of work :P

Anyone had somebody else move the 'list of goods to follow'?

phew thats a relief! I thought maybe the goods to follow list may have needed more detail. Would it all have to arrive in one shipment though or could it arrive in several? The guidelines for the goods list don;t exactly go into great detail! Unless I'm missing an indepth guide somewhere. Thanks...

Anyone had somebody else move the 'list of goods to follow'?

Just a quick question regarding my goods to follw list. I'm planning on having aout 30 books shipped out after I arrive. Do I need to list them all by title or can I just say "books" & the quantity & value?

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

I'm going to Sooke, just outside of Victoria on vancouver Island. A stunning part of the world that I've already fallen totally in love with! At least with my packing it's just me, I don't have to worry about anyone else ;) It's helped by the fact that I've been living with my parents recently...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Just taking a quick break from packing. It's hard to believe that after 3 years of being in a long distance relationship I'm actually gonna be moving to Canada to be with my gorgeous wife & step kids in 3 short days ;D ;D ;D Sooooooooooooo much still to do though, anyone fancy coming to help...
