No reference letter= No express entry application . And all those "contracts, invoices, articles of incorporation, bank statements and pictures of me at work" are secondary / additional documents which IRCC asks later if they require. Reference letter is the primary document IRCC require.

being honest is the best advice. you may attach a letter of explanation regarding the previous UK refusal. i believe there won't be an issue when applying for express entry now. @wonderbly @GandiBaat @cansha @Naturgrl

she should've updated on the application, removed you from the app. i think it was possible. i think if you were included in the application while the refusal happened it will affect you as well. : (
