For me, it was because my name (Arab) was similar enough to another name on a watchlist. I know this because one of the times I asked for GCMS notes, they (mistakenly) attached an email chain with unredacted names of IRCC officers flagging me for fingerprints because of a "possible name match"...

So I just called IRCC and they said they're still opening envelopes from November 2020, so for people like me who applied in Jan 2021, we probably are looking at an AOR date of Feb 2022.

Thanks for sharing. This is good to have but the timeline is just straight up distressing...I might be without a Citizenship Certificate for another year. What happens if I lose my passport while I'm abroad? I'm basically done for...can't even return to the country with my native passport...

Is there anyone who sent in an application this year who got AOR?

I just want my damn AOR...they can take their 15 months all they want, but it's not too much to ask for an ASAP confirmation that my precious citizenship certificate hasn't been lost in the IRCC blackhole and is in fact in their system...

Funny thing is...Passport Canada don't require the updated name on the citizenship certificate anymore...just the certificate of name change, so this was a complete waste of time and money (for me at least). That said, I'm still reluctant to change the name on my passport because what if IRCC...

So the key thing here is: Don't lose your passport because the worst case scenario is: You wait 12-15 months before realizing your certificate might've been lost in the mail, send in another application to replace the lost certificate, wait 15 months for that, so that's at least 2.5 years before...

So we're talking about minimum 9 months just for AOR at current processing rates, yes?
