Yes, you do need to remember names and the important dates. You don’t need to memorise every single date, but dates like 1867 for example are important to know.

Yes, however, you should read the Discovery Guide at least once.

It wasn't that bad at all. I read the Discovery Guide once and did the online tests on the Richmond Library website. This helped me a ton. Just read the guide 1-2 times and you will be fine. Good luck!
