Don't rely too much on what IRCC call agents say, unfortunately they are not very competent oftentimes and can't be the source of truth for sure. There's nothing to worry about. You current work permit wont be invalidated if you get a refusal. And you are not on maintained status while your current work permit is valid and it will stay valid if you get refused. Only you are approved, your previous work permit gets invalid.
