    OPs refusal of PGWP very likely came with a departure order as they currently have no status in Canada and must either leave or apply for restoration of status. Ignoring can lead to deportation order which is far more serious than departure order.

    Pretty sure if you are a regular employee (not sure about contractor), EI, CPP and other deductions are employer responsibility. OP is probably referring to working unofficially and employer paying them without any tax implications, which is illegal but hard to prove so should be okay.
