    New Budget and PR processing

One thing I'd add to this great response: > jump the queue en masse to get PR over people who played by the rules. By and large, protected persons - who have already been reviewed and approved - did in fact play by the rules. Because these people faced great danger, the rules are deliberately...

    Renew refugee travel document

Wait I don't mean to try and cross the border with the photos of previous issued. I mean go to the appointment with those photos to get a new US visa. Crossing with photos in place of the real visa will likely get you into trouble. Also probably the old and new RTD numbers are not linked so the...

    New Budget and PR processing

I am incredibly sad to agree with you on this point. But, agreed. But one influences the other, right? If the worldwide crisis wasn't as bad, there'd be less pressure on Canada to take in, and thus it'd be easier to ask to reduce the numbers. As it is.... But of course there is also pressure -...

    New Budget and PR processing

I think we all want the same thing really - a magic wand that we can wave that will - Ensure that genuine refugees get to stay in Canada as full PRs or citizens and their dependents get to come - Ensure that there's enough housing and jobs for both the above folks as well as all the native-born...

    Renew refugee travel document

In the old days, before clowns took over the country, I think that would have worked fine. You basically have the same situation as described in https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/how-to-get-a-replacement-u-s-visa-after-losing-your-passport.html - old passport is essentially lost and old...

Protected Person - Open work permit renewal

It seems like the extension is more like written confirmation of maintained status or implied status. Since on implied status you can't renew your SIN; while you can keep working for your current employer you can't change employers (as you won't be able to prove that you have a valid unexpired SIN).

    Renew refugee travel document

Ah, in that case it sounds like you followed the instructions correctly. However, it's also less certain if they'll return the documents to you - they have an interest in preventing folks from holding two valid travel docs at the same time. I'd speculate that if you put in the request now...

Need help -Spouse work permit protected person

Going off-topic but just curious here. Usually LMIAs are sponsored by employers and thus are closed work permits instead of open work permits. So I'm curious as to how someone can have an open work permit directly through an LMIA.

    Renew refugee travel document

Oh that's a bit tough. As per https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/refugee-travel-document-or-certificate-of-identity-after-getting-pr-my-previous-refugee-travel-document-expired.875050/#post-11103735 you actually were not suppose to do that: But someone did...

Refugee Travel Document - Statutory Declaration In Lieu of Guarantor

I've not seen this situation before. I'd do two separate ones to be safe.

travel to india ( using refugee travel document)

Hmm. I saw that in 2022 you also went to the Open House and at that time, they did your application right then and there. Of course, a lot has happened since then, e.g. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-india-canada-visa-suspensions/ and...

    Refugee Travel Document 2025 timeline

Do you know at least if it was sent via Purolator or Canada Post? Canada Post lost one of our passports ... multiple times. And they had a national strike going on when your RTD was dispatched, and the rotating strikes are still ongoing. If you check out the guide/wizard on...

Refugee Travel Document or Certificate of Identity after getting PR? (My previous Refugee Travel Document expired)

From my reading of the instructions it seems like the eCoPR might be optional/not needed, the decision of notice is more important. Though, I suppose it doesn't hurt anything to include it anyways (for peace of mind if nothing else) as it's just one extra page.

Refugee Travel Document or Certificate of Identity after getting PR? (My previous Refugee Travel Document expired)

I looked at the application form itself, https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/passport/forms/pdf/pptc190.pdf 3 PROOF OF IMMIGRATION STATUS IN CANADA (SEE INSTRUCTIONS, SECTION I) To establish your immigration status in Canada, provide a photocopy of one (1) of the...

    New Budget and PR processing

I have the same concern. Is this really that hidden from the public though? Like, each spot needs funding and thus has to be part of the budget approved by Parliament, right? I was optimistically hoping that the only distinction that they were trying to make was between permanent targets that...

Urgent: Sudden Increase in PR Processing Times for Refugees and Protected Persons (Up to 99 Months!)

Okay... just to confirm, if you were given the choice to return to your home country and wait there, but in return your PR would be ready in eight months and then you could come back to Canada as a full PR - you'd take that deal? So I was trying to demonstrate why no one in this position should...

Urgent: Sudden Increase in PR Processing Times for Refugees and Protected Persons (Up to 99 Months!)

So the consultant said, emphasis mine. (Again emphasis mine.) But you did miss quoting part from the link, > Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is pleased to release details on the 2026-2028 Immigration Levels Plan (Levels Plan). The Levels Plan includes temporary resident...

Urgent: Sudden Increase in PR Processing Times for Refugees and Protected Persons (Up to 99 Months!)

So let's assume that the opposite is true - that protection is assumed to not be needed as much as fast processing for PR. Well, in the past, inland applications took longer than outland to process. So, let's kick all these folks back to their home country where they fear for their lives and...
