So this isn't a ghost update but an actual update that you've been asked to attend an interview. Ghost updates just show a change in the last updated date with no real changes to the application activities. Don't stress about the interview. It is usually straightforward. It's most likely just the assigned officer not getting to our applications just yet. If they had worked on it but havent approved, we would have heard in some way. Are you sure BG isn't completed and you're in grant review ready status? I've never heard that. Applications are typically only eligible for the grant review status after both security and criminality have passed.- moman21

I believe she still has to come back. I don't think they allow people to attend virtual ceremonies from overseas. That would actually be a red flag. In addition, it would be suspect if she was to apply for her first passport from overseas. My advice: she should return and stay in Canada until...- moman21

We are still within the processing timeline but if you want help, contacting your MP might get you more info. You can also request GCMS notes from CBSA and not IRCC.
