    Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2023 Timeline

Most less complex cases still require a hearing although often a short hearing. Assume you may be referring to virtual hearings which happens for all forms of asylum claims to try to redistribute workloads between various locations/provinces and not limit members from hearing cases in one location.

Help! No decision was made during the hearing, is that a bad thing?

It is important to correct misinformation so people are as educated as possible about the process. Negative hearing results are not given out at hearings primarily for safety reasons. Some members do advise asylum applicants of a positive decision at the end of a hearing although they are not...

Refusal on visitors visa applied in May 17, 2025

Does it specify proof of round trip airfare? That is very strange because IRCC strongly discourages purchase of airfare when applying. Proof of itinerary and proposed flight plans are usually sufficient.

H&C Humanitarian Ground with/or Without Failed refugee claim

Still takes a long time to skim through that volume of information which is why it is best to provide a smaller amount of documentation. A H&C case can be made in much less than 1500 pages.

Help! No decision was made during the hearing, is that a bad thing?

Means nothing in terms of approval/refusal. Many members never give out their ruling at the end of a hearing. They aren’t required to. Wouldn’t analyze the end of the hearing too much. As previously said it could be a few weeks to a few months for a NOD.

Never heard of negative decisions being given during a hearing only positive ones. That said many members never give out their ruling at the end of the hearing.

Leaving Canada - Before H&C application Or After?

You can’t apply from outside Canada. You will have to advise IRCC when you leave Canada. Chances of approval will likely decrease dramatically if you leave Canada soon after applying for H&C but the application will be processed. Even if you remained in Canada many without status are now being...
