    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I don't know when all this happened, but all experiences we've had with passport office relatively recently have been MUCH better. They had huge issues post-pandemic; now seems sorted. So much so they're offering (partial?) guarantees if passport not complete in 30 days.

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

That's really a different problem case than what was discussed about PR card renewal above, but sure. Obviously we'll see what happens with the potential strike and if passport office issues any instructions - but if you're in a place with a passport office, their 'pick up instead of delivery'...

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I agree with this advice overall but would just note that lately PR card renewals have been going very quickly (at least for those in compliance etc, which all citizenship applicants should/would be) - like most in less than a month. Of course, YMMV. Not saying it's not a good idea to renew -...

    Spousal sponsorship

They do not provide specific guidance. My view is at minimum she can decide based on who her employment contract is with - eg even if it's a 'government' hospital, if the contract and paycheque is from the hospital and named as such, no issue. (Depending on country the hospital may be a...

    December 2024 - Citizenship Applications

Well if you applied in English I presume they schedule for the English ceremony. And if no stated preference, they will schedule either virtual or in person. Even in Toronto the English ceremony had some French - but not very much. If you want a French one, ask for one.

    December 2024 - Citizenship Applications

Did you ask for a ceremony in English or in French? Did you ask for in person?

    December 2024 - Citizenship Applications

We did this for one family member in Toronto, and we heard back from them in about a week, and the ceremony was scheduled only about three-four weeks or so later than the original. This was Toronto which may have made faster (several ceremonies every week), don't know about other locations...

It is the same form. I don't recall whether a photo is required (don't think so).

Missed PR Card Interview Due to Medical and Family Hardship – Seeking Advice on Reopening Application, Residency Obligation, and Urgent Processing

It's a bit hard to understand b/c some potentially important parts like when you became a PR and timeline. For example: was your last time in Canada followed right away by the 15 months with your spouse? When you applied last time for the PR card - were you in compliance? Did you include your...

ONLINE PR RENEWAL CARD ASKING FOR COMMON-LAW STAT TO UPLOAD?

you've asked this before, I think, and answered. Can you point to the part where it requests this, and clarify whether it's required or not? It's still up to you to decide.

Family Class Outland Sponsorship: Remote Work Question on IMM5669 Personal History

I'd put whatever address you have connection with and where someone would answer the phone/email, and a letter of explanation if you think it's needed.

    Residency obligation

    1. Depends very, very much on whether the applicant is in compliance with the residency obligation or not. And to a lesser degree, the office. 2. If approved, you'll submit passport according to local visa office procedure (almost always by submitting through visa application centres.)

PR card renewal delay, need advise, thank you

If your current PR card will be valid for your planned return, and your trip abroad is not long, should not be any problem. My understanding is that when they issue new cards, the old one is 'cancelled' in the system only after 30 or 60 days. If you can have someone monitor and receive your...

Missed PR Card Interview Due to Medical and Family Hardship – Seeking Advice on Reopening Application, Residency Obligation, and Urgent Processing

To be upfront, this is the biggest problem: while you can try, I'm not aware of any mechanism that can possibly guarantee you'll get a card by then, even with urgent processing. Given your history, it seems even more likely that it'll take longer. I doubt anyone can say. Keep in mind that...

Canadian Citizen living and working abroad - needing a spouse visa for my wife

    Request for Government service details

I found the form with a wee bit more searching (the google-fu is strong when used with coffee): https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/imm0149.html For future reference, it is called "Details of Government Employment - IMM0149"...

    Request for Government service details

[edit update below - with the correct form] I think if you provide this type of letter, it may take ages to get a response and even then who knows what it'll be (they may ask for resume or c.v.). I'd suggest responding with actual content as to what you did. You can still include the text you...

Digital Photo File + Photographer Information - Online Citizenship Application

I have not, but I did do this recently, and there are lines in the forms where it asks for the photographer's details including address - don't purposely provide fake info. Just pay the $20 or so and get it done right - sure, you might have it accepted otherwise, but you might also get it...
