Starting dates in citizenship application form: from the start of eligibility period or the actual starting date?

That works too, but if I had been able to reply in time I would have suggested uploading an LOE as an extra supporting doc near the end of the online app prior to submitting. A bit less hassle (and less worry that they'd have to match up the webform with the app).

PRTD or wait for PR card

Good luck with the PRTD! I also had a long time to become PR - our dates mostly align if you shift mine two years forward (the difference is that I was never an international student).

    PR card renewal obligations

I'd provide all, I think the idea is to cover as many days of that five year period as possible, so the more NOAs you have the better. (In the earlier post, only one NOA, the most recent one, was within the past five year period, hence why that advice was given I think.) I'd think your doctor...

Unlink Joint Applicaiton - Citizenship Application Delay

Wow. So even though theirs' is complete, IRCC won't accept the request to unlink ... that seems to be unexpected considering the earlier replies in this thread. I'd consider it hard to justify too (it'd be different if there were multiple members BG checks still in progress but that isn't the...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

Seems like we agree on most parts, and certainly on all the important things! So this might be the only thing where we seriously disagree. You don't define long, but Bluesky's only been open to the public for the past year and a half roughly. Even if you count the invitation-only era, that's...

    April 2025 - Citizenship Applications

Same here. My dates are almost identical to yours. Worth noting though that I also got FP request - most folks getting BG and LPP done don't seem to have FP request...

Unlink Joint Applicaiton - Citizenship Application Delay

That's interesting. Are both of your backgrounds still in progress? I wonder if OP's wife will have a better chance since OP's wife's BG check is complete.

Starting dates in citizenship application form: from the start of eligibility period or the actual starting date?

If you can, be truthful and state when it really started (e.g. in 2019). If the form won't let you write or submit the earlier truthful date, set it to 20 sept 2020 and add a letter of explanation with the truth start dates and explain that the online app wouldn't let you give the actual start...

    Queries regarding citizenship application- Urgent

    1. You don't need to include it and you can't count it. It's a rolling five year window, so physical presence before the five years doesn't count. 2. Either way is fine. Since this is for verifying your physical presence, I think it's typical to list the home address and note that one worked...

Questions on Citizenship Application for folks who have worked remotely

So actually we're in agreement here. This is more-or-less the advice that I gave earlier, https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/april-2025-citizenship-applications.869454/post-11049688 (and a bit more on reasoning here...

Questions on Citizenship Application for folks who have worked remotely

If it were me, I might just do this anyways. Not because I'd be seriously concerned here about the unincluded jobs, but because that's just an additional exclude to build buffer in terms of the number of physical presence days.

Regional Case Officer also Inspect PR Residency Obligation?

This was my impression as well. That's an angle that I hadn't considered. But now that it's been pointed out, I find myself in agreement. I thought that this was similar to the CSBA land border cases where the CBSA official declines to file a section 44(1) report but asks the PRs (who are...

Regional Case Officer also Inspect PR Residency Obligation?

I completely agree with this. OP, I think you might be caught between a rock and a hard place. The thing is, it might not be up to you. I'm not aware of any restrictions preventing the officer handling your spousal application from filling a section 44(1) report. (This would be unusual, but...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

Actually, yes, this would be the way to do it. This addresses my earlier point in my previous post - any company-specific stuff would presumably not show up in the advice from another company's legal team, so by comparing the answers one could reasonably gleam what an affected member of the...

Refugee status cessation and PRs applying for citizenship

Thanks, nice find! It's a bit thread-bare on some of the details around the original cessation case (like the circumstances under which Chen traveled to China in 2014), but this makes sense considering that > [11] The purpose of a PRRA is to determine whether “there has been a change in the...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

Alas, that sounds about right for the current admin down there. Especially the late Friday announcement and Saturday cleanup... This makes sense. I'm assuming that the legal teams were advising the affected staff, who then turned around and posted this anonymously on the website. (As I can't...

Passed the Citizenship test then realize I miscalculate the physical presence

OP seems to have last been on this forum only a month after posting, so I don't think we'll see a response or update. From earlier in this thread it seems something like 4 weeks is reasonable to expect though for the withdrawal to go through. I'm not sure if one should expect a "speed bump" to...

Canadian Citizen - H1B - Staying in US

I don't know why I can't find the post now (I just noticed this actually). But I do recall at the time that this was replied to - if memory serves correctly, the answer was that the friend had reported that the DMV saw the Ontario DL on their computers first and raised it to the friend. In other...

Yes, indeed. Why am I not surprised that the information shared on that website was inaccurate? Oh right, https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/dec/30/reddit-moderator-protest-communities-social-media Although this doesn't affect me, I'm glad to hear that what came out was at least...
