2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

There is no quota for granting protected person status. There is certainly a quota for granting protected people, refugees and their dependents PR with a significant backlog. Just protected people (so those who claimed asylum within Canada) without their dependents or other refugees have a...

2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

It is going to keep increasing for quite a long time.

The irony is I think this is the same person playing good cop bad cop.

2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

Zero point filing mandamus at this point. Your processing is very much in line with other applicants. Next October may make sense but hopefully you will have received PR by then. Save your money.

2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

Mandamus didn’t work. They filed it but it doesn’t sound like it was granted and likely wouldn’t have been granted. Think this is pure coincidence. Unless process is taking a year longer than others would be very reluctant to file mandamus

2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

They are customer service agents not VOs so yes they can’t see much and often aren’t very knowledgeable. Assume many are not longterm employees.

2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

It still has to be substantially later than other applications. The timeline doesn’t make sense. This would not be a mandamus case. Think this is pure coincidence and normal processing. They said they filed mandamus but it wasn’t granted.

    Dependent child sponsorship

Application will be processed as normal. Would warn you there are long wait times for services for children experiencing similar issues. Many things end up needing to be paid out of pocket because of long wait times and limit on how much services/funds you can receive from the province...

Visitor visa question – apply from home country instead of South Africa?

You can apply from your home country but I wouldn’t count on the posted processing time given the more complex application. Do not book travel until you have the TRV.

    Dependent child sponsorship

So your child was listed as non-accompanying on your PR application? When did you land as PRs and when was your child born?

Parents & Grandparents Program (PGP) 2023

Getting PGP is literally like winning the lottery these days. Given Canada’s health care crisis and ageing population it’s slightly shocking it even exists and many Canadians were outraged when they suddenly discovered the program existed this year. Processing when you got selected was around 3...

There was no error so not sure what you expect an MP to do.

Visitor visa question – apply from home country instead of South Africa?

If he is home country his TRV file can be filed there. Would not count on processing times in general but especially the one listed for his home country if he spends the majority of time in South Africa.

Help writing an invitation letter for a visitor visa

Would not include your information at all. Your wife can go visit her mother but your family is attempting to extend her stay in Canada as a visitor. That is viewed as personal choice. Very justify needing a TRV to visit another visitor in Canada.

    Dependent child sponsorship

Did you and your spouse meet the residency obligation for PR? When did you both get PR and how much time have you spent in Canada in the past 5 years?

H&C Humanitarian Ground with/or Without Failed refugee claim

Given current economy and sentiment around immigration I don’t see any chance that there will be pressure to increase any form of immigration except the highly skilled category. Makes no sense why a US (especially under 45) can’t secure PR, why PhDs in STEM wouldn’t have an easier pathway to...

Protected person moving out of quebec

It will help but how much is tough to say. Depends on where in the process you are and how IRCC puts you in the queue. Processing times have been increasing for protected people outside of Quebec as well. It is a pure math issue. Way too many people waited for the allocated PR capacity...

Refugee Sponsorship Inquiry from the Philippines

Agree they haven’t closed it but there is a good chance they may decrease or pause the program going forward as backlogs continue to grow.
