    This is not even relatively similar to said person's situation. Initially they came to Canada economically, along with a minor child that went through the Canadian school system. As I said, not all "parents" have the same situation.

    It all comes down to individual circumstances. Some “parents” may have come here under other streams and had some bad things happen out of their control.. try to obtain work or study permits further on but never have anything work out, exhausted their options, have nobody to go back to at “home”...

    What is confusing me is my status says my background check is processing but I have received no medical request nor have had a stage 1 decision.

    Your circumstances are very compelling. However, you are a CNC machinist and there are pathways that lead to PR for you via skilled trade routes… H&C is not a backdoor to PR and the fact that you are already here as a skilled tradesperson could very well make the officer not approve your case...
