1344e FORM signatures for Dependent child

For those who are filling out this form and for whom an explanation will help them 'do it' - this is my understanding: I think the reason for this is that they want the person signing to indicate who they are - because that person should have some legal responsibility, and therefore need to...

Citizenship / Police certificate / clearance requirement

Still no - you were not in your home country for >183 days after you became a PR.

1344e FORM signatures for Dependent child

They want you to type your own name (the name of the person signing on behalf of the minor). Yes, the instructions are not very clear.

    PR for Mother

I have to echo @canuck78's comments here: my own experience / understanding is that one weird specificity of Canadian politics is that in some areas, the idea that some things from government should be decided based on money is political kryptonite. The other side of that coin is that Canadians...

    PR for Mother

I've looked at it, briefly. As far as I can tell, they've ended up with a system where they charge 'extra' - but not enough to cover actual anticipated (actuarial) expenses, while remaining too low to significantly restrain demand. So they end up with a system where they charge 'extra' but...

Now there you go again, bringing in points that support my argument. )

Are Finger Print requests by exception, random or everyone?

Not everyone. As far as anyone is aware, some combination of random + exceptions.

    PR Card renewal window

I believe this is wrong. PR cards currently have the date with language specifically stating "PR since/RP depuis" - and that should indeed be the date one became a PR (landing date). Now I can't state for certain that PR cards have always contained precisely this field with this meaning. But...

    April 2025 - Citizenship Applications

Passports are indeed considered government-issued ID. Only an issue if it specifically says it must be (a) Canadian government-issued ID. [I say 'a' because funny thing in Canada, when they say Canadian government issued, that typically includes provincially issued. And I guess they figure it...

    April 2025 - Citizenship Applications

Check instructions carefully but I'm pretty sure it's only required for identification purposes - therefore any (readable) photo ID.

Citizenship / Police certificate / clearance requirement

If you read carefully, I believe it specifies that if your >183 days was immediately prior to becoming a PR, then it's not necessary.

Letter of demand ahead of writ of mandamus?

Obviously I've no insight into your specific case. But yes - even though they put some reasons into procedural fairness (which they have to do in order to give you a chance to respond), some of these reasons can be broad or vague enough that there is no specific part of it that can be called...

    PR for Mother

I'd add: the government has set a target for reducing the number of temporary residents as a % of the total population, and it's going to be a hard target to meet. Now, there's a longer lead time for the supervisas / long issuance validity, so it's not like they can turn the tap off tomorrow...

    February 2025 - Citizenship Applications

A family application can only move and complete as fast as the slowest family member's file. So yes - they will all be slower, mathematically. (Except for rare cases where both are exactly as quick as each other.)

    Urgent!! passport expiry

Never heard of a temporary UCI. At any rate - my advice is still to just wait.

    Urgent!! passport expiry

There is no temporary UCI. It's permanent. If you've ever applied for one, you can use that one. Otherwise just wait, it'll be on one of the first pieces of correspondence you get. Again - while I recommend getting it in early, if you haven't received AOR yet, it's not all urgent.

Do check the Ontario website, I believe under dependents of PR, legally in Canada. Not at all certain though.

    February 2025 - Citizenship Applications

You're stressing for no reason. Look at the tracker. Ballpark a dozen february applicants have oath dates (incl in future) out of 112 or so. You know from IRCC practices not all files proceed at same pace.
