    March 2025 - Citizenship Applications

For those who can apply and pick-up in person, the standard of service is now 10 business days (so two weeks), only an extra $20 for pick-up. Receiving by mail - reasonably fast now but dependent on Canada Post. (A caveat that submitting at a non-passport office - plain service canada - they are...

You fill this form out as if you were the child. Of course that includes info about the father (you).

Unrealistic to think all remaining stages, oath, and passport will be complete in a few weeks.

For any within the normal timeframe with nothing unusual showing, will (almost) always be the standard response. I'd say don't bother.

    Residency obligations for PR renewal

Stop overthinking. They ask for two pieces of evidence. They provide some examples of the types of things. Provide the two pieces of evidence. Stop trying to figure out how to plug gaps when they haven't asked you to.

Please advise..best option for my spouse

That is precisely the type of job for which it may apply, and yes, they would establish an exemption for that. If it's something to Canada's benefit, why not? Think, for example, military. While I believe PRs can join military, not surprisingly some jobs within require citizenship.

Please advise..best option for my spouse

That specific webpage does not specify that, but my understanding - for example - is that they (historically) haven't done so for, eg., NAFTA professionals visas and the like. Anyway, I could be wrong. No harm in trying. I doubt it, but no skin off my nose.

Please advise..best option for my spouse

I don't think that IRCC would think that needing Canadian citizenship to get a job outside of Canada would be a valid reason to grant expedited processing. Unless it were with a crown entity (ie. Canadian govt or close to it), and possibly a few other (rare) scenarios. Why would they expedite...

PR Holder - Could I face any issues with PR renewal, or citizenship or in general?

As long as you have been OUTSIDE Canada LESS THAN 1095 days (three years) in any five year period (rolling basis, looking back five years from date of examination eg at border/port of entry), then you are in compliance with the residency obligation. [Obviously the dates prior to the date you...

Citizenship / Police certificate / clearance requirement

I believe if you read carefully, the instructions say (at least on the offline form) that 'if you were in your country of origin immediately before becoming a permanent resident and this time falls within the four year period, you are not required to provide a police certificate. Please indicate...

Are Finger Print requests by exception, random or everyone?

There is another use of random, used in statistics and notably in population/sampling theory and practice (notably - and relevant here - auditing, but also medicine, economics, etc), which is randomizing (selecting by draw, essentially) from within some population group for some treatment or...

Citizenship / Police certificate / clearance requirement

You are correct, I was focussing on the question of whether a PCC is needed rather than the specific question. The culpa is mea if this led to confusion.

    November 2024 - Citizenship Applications

Mea culpa, but I was going by your text in the previous. At any rate: bring what she has, it'll be fine. It's not a trick, they are just trying to identify the person. (I'm pretty sure my family members only had the PR cards checked but not positive)

It's an in-person ceremony? Have her bring it all. I'm pretty sure foreign passport plus PR card will be fine. If not: note the 'second ID' does not specify it has to be a photo ID, so the Alberta health card will likely be accepted.
