    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

OK this gives me confidence, thanks. Let's see if they also schedule me for an oath ceremony in the next few weeks. If I could complete the oath by early June then I should be able to get a passport ahead of my trip in mid-July. I don't mind paying for an express passport processing service if I...

It was earlier this year, maybe 2-3 months ago.

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

How do you know if an application has been approved once all the steps apart from Ceremony have been completed? Is it just a case of waiting for an email?

I live in downtown Toronto so I'm sure I could get to a passport office if I need to but I imagine they could be havoc during the summer, especially during a postal strike. Also, I know someone who chose that option for their kid's passport and the passport just ended up being mailed anyway...

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I guess the concern with PR card renewals and passport applications right now is whether Canada Post go on strike again. Nobody will want such an important document stuck in a Canada Post warehouse for weeks. My own PR Card expires towards the end of this year but I need to travel in a couple...

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

No email received but my tracker has updated and shows LPP was completed on May 9th. Only Citizenship Ceremony is still outstanding and is in Not Started status. LPP took around 6 weeks after Background completed.

It shouldn't matter. Work is completely irrelevant when it comes to citizenship applications. I think they only ask for employment info during the citizenship application process so they can technically query your contributions with the CRA.

I honestly don't know whether age makes all that much difference other than offering an exemption from the test requirement.

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I received a reply to my webform request within a couple of days which is definitely nice. However, all it really confirms is they have everything they need from me for now and my application is still awaiting review and processing in Vancouver. So the message on the tracker stating they're...

The lack of fairness, consistency and basic standards of service from the Vancouver office is quite frankly alarming.

How are background and prohibitions different when they essentially both link to the same information page?

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

Thanks to everyone for responding to my question earlier today. I have submitted a ticket through the webform today and I'll confirm here when I hear anything back. Hopefully the message suggesting their still waiting for further documents from me is just a misnomer.

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

OK thank you. I can submit a ticket later today and ask if they have received everything they need.

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

Thanks, I thought that was likely to be the case. I'll probably just leave it for now and maybe submit a ticket if nothing has still changed in a few weeks or so. They confirmed they had received the PCC I uploaded via a web ticket ages ago and the FP request was done through the...

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

Slightly odd question, after I submitted my application in early January, they requested a PCC from my home country. They shouldn't have requested or needed one but I can only assume they did so because they know easy it is to get one from my country of origin. They then requested FP's from me...

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

But your PR card is still good until you take the oath, no? So if you need to travel between LPP and oath, in the worst case you could just postpone the oath. It won't be ideal but needs must sometimes.

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I don't think anyone is arguing. There are just quite a few irritated people on this thread who are receiving what they feel to be unfair treatment from the IRCC Vancouver office and are probably looking to vent. The good news is that we have eachother so nobody in this thread needs to suffer...

It's fine. I said something they disagreed with and they called me out on it. I don't think any racism or other form of prejudice was implied and there's no harm done.
