    2022 PR application timeline

It is normal processing if you look at other applicants. Mandamus is rarely effective unless significantly longer processing times (over a year) than most other applicants.

    Québec PR Timelines

Pretty sure people are waiting over 50 months these days

    PR for Mother

Strongly believe LICO is way too low for PGP and given the low income levels I assume many are accessing support services/government programs/charities to afford to live in Canada with their parents either visiting or getting PR. Some may have been already accessing these things without their...

    2022 PR application timeline

You are undergoing normal processing time so hopefully you applied on your own and didn’t pay a lawyer.

    PR for Mother

There have been discussions about higher income requirements in the past which got huge pushback.

    PR for Mother

Agree that this is a group that gets very little attention in terms of temporary residents. The majority of Canadians are unaware that supervisa or even PGP exist. International students and temporary workers get most of the attention from the media, politicians and IRCC. Would be shocked if...

    SOWP

Would add that there is a decent chance you may not get a response regarding your SOWP before your spouse needs to come to Canada assuming she starts school in September.

Is DOT for active TB really needed for Study Permit?

Will happen after the 6 month treatment. In terms of DOT not sure. Given that it is not available in all countries I don’t think so but would clarify with IRCC.

    PR for Mother

Think the actual volume of parents visiting on supervisas is likely higher than we may think. Should ATIP the ED use of certain hospitals and it would probably be pretty shocking how many non-OHIP, MSP, RAMQ, etc. users are accessing healthcare. Anecdotally clearly putting strain on hospitals...

Is DOT for active TB really needed for Study Permit?

Yes you can do treatment elsewhere. You will have to repeat chest X-ray and sputum culture after treatment to ensure TB has been cured. If there are still concerns you can be asked to do further testing.

    Citizenship for Self-Employed

You should have been filing taxes as self-employed so you would have that proof. I would also have at least a month of buffer time.

    PR for Mother

A supervisa is a visitor visa. The mother can visit but it is visa that allows you to visit on a yearly basis IF you can secure supervisa insurance. Currently in most cases you can visit for 5 years with the potential for a 2 year extension. Many confuse this as a permanent move. If you get sick...

    Stepdaughter keeping permanent residency

As a stepdaughter she is technically a dependent of your wife not you. If still under 22 she can be sponsored again if you return to Canada permanently.

    Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2023 Timeline

If your case was an outlier maybe but many are waiting 2 years for a hearing these days. There is a very large backlog and only a limited capacity to process a certain number of applicants every year.

    2024 PR Application timeline

You can try but good chance they will be refused because most are not genuine visitors.

    PR for Mother

A 10 year supervisa does not mean she can visit for 10 years. Would add that many do not have the funds to pay for healthcare for preexisting conditions or if supervisa insurance is refused which would also mean visitor is no longer compliant with the terms of their supervisa.

    PR Card renewal window

5 year window ends April 8 2026. That said if you weren’t compliant with your RO the RO is a rolling requirement so you always need to meet the 730 days in 5 years on any date. If not compliant with your RO would not apply 9 months early.

Best time to Land in Canada

There is never a perfect moment but employers and staff often take time off in July & August so hiring typically slows especially for office jobs. Most employers also function quite differently between the end of November to mid-January. The hiring process is very slow which doesn’t help.

    Quebec Spousal Sponsorship Process Questions

You’d be surprised how many people are moving to another province while trying to keep their Quebec job and even sometimes a home in Quebec. They have no intention of actually settling in the other province longterm. Quebec and IRCC are already much more vigilant about inconsistencies in PR...

    Super Visa - Insurance questions

A bit high but healthcare costs are going up and the number of supervisa visitors who actually use their insurance is quite high which is why premiums are so high. The 3k could be wiped out with a single ED visit if some more expensive testing is involved and dependent on drugs involved.
