Hi everyone

My fiance and I live in the UK, my financé has recently been offered a job in Canada, and they are looking for him to move over as a temporary foreign worker whilst he is waiting for his work permit to be processed.

My question is; can I apply for an open work permit now? Or do I need to wait for his to be approved first?

I'm aware I could go to Canada with him as a visitor, but I can't work until I have an open work permit right? I probably couldn't afford to go with him unless I can work over there :(

Thanks for all your help - I find the internet full of conflicting info!

Are you in a common law relationship, definition of which have been living together for 12 plus months. To get a permit of any type you would need to be your partners spouse , either common law or married, fiancé status itself counts for nothing.
