hi,

I am a BCPNP nominee and myself and my partner have submitted our paper based PR application.

My partner submitted his work permit application as since he’s my common law partner, he’s entitled to one for the same duration as mine.

His IEC expires on the 14th of September and I was wondering what’s his next step? Does he need to apply for a BOWP? Or is he free to work from now, past his current visa date, until a decision is made?

Thanks!

First of all, he must have a valid work permit to work in Canada.

You said he submitted his work permit application which is based on your current work permit validity? If so, that work permit application he submitted was a BOWP application, there's no need to apply for another one. his next step is to wait for his work permit application result.

Before you receive a decision on your PR application, you and your partner can keep renewing your BOWP.
