How much notice do you get to write the citizenship test?

Hi there,

I was just wondering what the invitation for the citizenship test looks like and how much notice they give you until you have to take the test? Do they give you 2 weeks notice or 4 weeks? I've seen conflicting information between the official government websites and video

I also applied for electronic notifications so when asked to write the test do they email you as well? or do they just send the letter? When checking the status of your application on the CIC website mine currently says in process. Will it update when they have sent the letter of the test invitation?

I'm really just hoping to have enough time to get back from my summer vacation without having to cut it too too short and being able to recover from the jetlag before having to attend.

Thank you in advance for any insight!

I've seen 2-4 weeks from people posting here.

If you got AoR via email, there is a strong chance you'll get an email for the test.

Your application won't change from In Process. You need to click on the "In Process" to see the actual status, and they'll be a new bit saying something about being sent something I believe. Mine is still In Process since March or something but when I click on it the last update was May 6th (FP request - for which I got an email along with my AoR).

When did you apply? The test can take anything from a few months (rare) to closer to a year.

Hi!

Thanks so much for your responses. I have checked the status of my application and they received my application on March 11th. The latest notice I have received is that it is in process since July 20th.

I am away right now and worried they won’t give me enough notice to return to Canada and take the test. I have been following the spreadsheet 2019 Citizenship application that’s been so helpful from this forum and it seems that people are getting their test invites anywhere from 1 month to 5 months since their “in process since X time” status. But I guess that’s just the ones that have been filled in and there are lots that haven’t been filled in yet actually.
