Hello everyone! I applied for Canadian Citizenship last year. The application received to CIC by April 10, 2018. They sent me acknowledging receipt on June 1, 2018 and they start working on my application on July 23, 2018. So, since then I have not received anything and still waiting. This is concerning, I know people they applied after me and they got their citizenships in 6-10 months. I contacted them and they told me you application is still in process means it's in the queue for an officer to look at it, what does that mean. I know location has a big rule in this but ( I live in Scarborough) this is way too too long. I here to seek some sincere and genuine advices please give me some responsible advices thank you.

That's how my application look online:

  1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on April 10, 2018.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on June 1, 2018.
  3. We started processing your application on July 23, 2018.

It is sad to know that there are people waiting for 21 months, Ive been waiting for 16 months April 2018 up to July 2019 and I get the same answer every time i contact IRC. so not sure what to do its really starting to get on me. My Dad passed away just recently while im stuck here cant fly back to see him because my PR expired and I thought i wont need to renew my PR since I applied for my citizenship. my first son will start walking soon and IRC still haven't finalize my application, all I hope for is to to be able to fly back with my son to meet his grandmother before it is late, I've already lost my Dad waiting on my citizenship, just dont want the same thing to happen again.then it will be too late!

Hi there,

I'm hoping that I will get an answer for my case.

I have applied for my citizenship grant in December 2017. I did my interview exam in April of 2018. I have not yet received any letter or change of status from "In process" to anything since April of 2018. I have contacted the call center a few times, but I wasn't able to get any information other than " your application is still in process. so, if you do the math, I've been waiting around 21 months now?

In addition to that, My PR card has been expired. I have applied to get my PR card renewed as well, but no word yet and that has been over 2 months.

Now, I've been reading on different topics on this forum and I'm hoping to see what sort of options I may have to take to get an answer.

Maybe talk to a lawyer? MP?

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks

Hello there, I wrote my test and did the interview as well last month but they told me we will schedule you for the oath in three months which will be December. However, the reason they gave me was that I traveled twice while I was PR. So, they have to do do some more background checks I guess. Is your situation is the same? Have you traveled to any country that is in somehow in conflict? That can be one of the mean reason they will hold the application to make sure they have all the information correct. Looking forward for your response. Thanks.
