I'm an Englishman living in Australia and am fairly certain I'm only a few days away from PPR.

Do you ALWAYS have to send your passport away for the visa? I've heard someone say sometimes you just have to send in pictures of it. If so, is it to Canada itself, the UK (where I applied from) or Australia I am likely to have to send it.

Thanks, I've read alot about this but it's really confusing.

For countries that require a visa to enter Canada, yes sending a passport to the nearby visa application center is a must as you will need a counterfoil on your passport showing your visa information as well as the expiry dates.

As for you being a UK citizen, you won't be asked to provide your physical passport for the visa application center, you will however be asked to send a copy of your bio page and two passport sized pictures that will be used to issue your COPR which is your entry ticket to become a PR after landing.

for more information , you can visit your local Visa application center here : http://www.vfsglobal.ca/Canada/australia/

You won't need to send your original passport. In any case, follow the exact instructions that will appear on your passport request email message and follow it to the letter.

Lead time varies alot depending on who will process your documents, usually it takes anywhere from one to four weeks

Hi All,

I have completed my biometrics and is currently awaiting PPR.

Need suggestion on below idea:
I was planning to land and stay in London (UK) in visit visa for 1 week to visit my in-laws family there while travelling to Canada in PPR.

Will it create any admission issue for me at border if I traveled and halted for some days in another country other than my country of residence or country of citizenship while I travel to canada for first time in PR.

any suggestions will be appreciated.
