I am asking again about police certificate .
I am 47 and I lived in England for 1year and half when I was 26 and lived in Canada for 1 year and half when I was 28.

According to "Police certificate and clearances" in Document check list ,

You must submit police certificate from the following country or countries at this time, unless indicated otherwise on the police certificate webpage:

The country where you currently live, if you have lived there for 6months or more ;and
The country where you have lived most of your life since the age of 18.

My understanding is that police certificate I need is from Japan ( where I live and lived for most of my life).

I got a message here saying you (I) need police certificate from England but not from Canada .

I am really confused. please somebody give me clear explanation !
Thank you in advance.

so what if someone lived in USA for a year when they were 18 n the rest of thier life they lived in thier home country..On the chklist they would put he home country name under where they live now nif they have lived there for last 6 months but where do they write USA then? bcz the 2nd line is ..the country where u have lived most of ur life since u were 18..so its really confusing

I read through CNC site about police certificate.

My understanding is that it depends on which visa you apply. For instance family support visa and express entry visa requires police certificate differently .

So in my case , I only need police certificate from Japan. It’s really confusing.

Hi,

You don't have to submit the Police Certificate of England when you send your application.
Although, they might request it later.

They changed the checklist about police
certificate (I don’t know exactly when. Last year or 2 years ago? ).
In the past we had to submit the police certificate of the country where we have lived more than 6 months whether we currently live or not.

In my case, I’ve lived in a country for 1.5 years, and I didn’t submit the police certificate of the country because I don’t live there currently.
Same as your understanding.
But they requested it later and I had to submit it after all.

It depends on the officers.
I recommend you to know how to get the police certificate of England just in case they request it.
If they request it you must submit it.

I see. That explains it.

I will send application form without police certificate from England according to check list for family support visa and see what will happen.

Thank you!

I have a similar situation.

I'm from the UK and lived there for most of my life, and I'm applying for an inland application for Canadian Permanent Residency through my common-law partner who is Canadian.

I've applied and received my UK Police Certificate. Now when I'm filling out the checklist, it asks me to provide a Police Certificate for
"The country where you currently live, if you have lived there for 6 months or more; and..."

I currently live in Canada, and have been back and forth over the years probably spending a total of 12 months here, but never more than 6 months at a time. My last entry to Canada was at the beginning of November, so I've only been here for 1.5 months this trip. Do I tick this box and write the country as 'Canada' for this section, or leave it blank? I haven't applied for a Canadian Police Certificate, because the next section says not to apply for it, as they will request it as and when needed.

Thanks in advance!

Did you find an answer to this one? I'm confused about that section in the checklist also. I am from the UK, but live in Ireland for 2 years until December last year. So i haven't lived in my current country (UK) for more than 6 months, however it just so happens it's the same country as the one i have spent most time in in my life, so i'm a little unsure if i have to get an Irish police certificate.

Hi,
I have a question regarding PCC's. I am a Canadian intending to sponsor my German husband of 22 years. The thing is...... we are an expat family and have lived in several different countries.... how on Earth to go about a PCC from Germany, Great Britain, Australia, India, Hong Kong and Korea? Can I enquire at their Embassies? Oh wow........ Does anyone else have this huge hurdle?

Hi

English is not my maternal language,

For Canadian Citizenship

Police certificate(s)

You need to provide a police certificate from each country, other than Canada, if you were there

  • in the past 4 years
  • for 183 days or more in a row
  • since the age of 18
Indicate in the chart the name of each country and provide a police certificate.

I got confused. I need to provide a police certificate, the period is the last 4 years,,, what is the real meaning “since you were 18”. I was 18 in 1985, so I have to provide a police certificate since I was 18? Or just the 4-year period?

Or that is for those people that was not 18 in the 4-year period?

Thanks
