Hi,

I want to know if this is misrepresentation and what would be the best course of action in my case.

I renewed my pr in December of 2018. On my PR application I made a mistake on the time spent at one of my addresses in Canada. I was out of Canada since 2014 Jan to 2014 sep but on my application I wrote I was af the Canadian address since 2014 Jan when I was there since 2014 sep. I was filling out my Canadian citizenship application and I want to put the right dates .

I wasn’t even in Canada from jan 2014 to sep 2014 and they will get to know that when they check my passport nd my intention was never to lie . I was checking my pr renewal application when I realized the mistake but I already got my pr renewed based on this info.

What should I do?

Have you received your new PR card yet?

If not, you can contact them to correct the mistake on your application. Afterward you just put the correct dates on your citizenship application. Please note that citizenship application takes the day counts very seriously so it is better to put the correct amount in the first place.

If you already received your new PR, you still need to put the correct days on your citizenship application to avoid any delays. Like you said they will find out eventually upon checking the stamps on your passport/CBSA record. In this case you can contact CIC before filing your application to see what they say.

Other members can chime in if I missed anything. I am not sure if PR renewal and citizenship application are linked together or not.

Good luck!

Yes, I have received my PR card that’s why I am concerned and I want to put the right dates which was always my intention to do so.

So I should wait till sep 12 of this year to apply ?
To be on the safe side, yes, wait till sep so you will meet the residency time. I would suggest have at least 2 weeks extra so you have a good buffer to the 1095 days requirement.
In the mean time you can contact them to see if you need to submit a correction for your PR application.

1) Submitted incorrect dates in PR card renewal application: YES, definitely call IRCC and find out what the best course of action will be in this case. Be honest about the mistake and ask what to do (hopefully you still had the days necessary to meet RO to renew the PR card, if you did not, that is most likely a problem, which IRCC can tell you how to deal with). This CAN be construed as misrepresentation, especially if they catch it before you come forward, and even more if this means you would not have had enough days to meet RO without that period of time during which you claimed to be in Canada but was, in fact, not.
2) Citizenship application: I would wait until the above situation is sorted before moving forward with a citizenship application, as they will 100% check every single entry and exit you had. If you send in the same (incorrect) info you sent with your PR card renewal, they will know and will flag you for misrepresentation. Either way, IRCC will know of the mistake. If they do not realize, and you get your citizenship, they can strip your citizenship if they deem it was based on misrepresentation- forever. You don't want to live the rest of your life thinking this may happen, I think!

TL;DR: contact IRCC regarding the mistake BEFORE applying for citizenship, and apply AFTER the situation has been cleared and rectified with IRCC.

What should I do?
very simple
write the correct dates and addresses in Citizenship application, attach a covering letter accepting the mistake in PR application which was not intentional.
