I have been in Canada for last 5 years , one thing I have come to understand about Canadians is it not always about money ! principle matters more.
Canada already has high taxes levels in western countries, yet people still have elected a guy who had plans of increasing taxes based purely based on his principle stands.

1% Tax increase for people with $200k income or more
Tax rate will decrease to 20.5% for people with $43k-89k

2% decrease is not much but not bad either we cannot expect 5-10% decease :p. yes $900 dollars on 45k not bad. 1% for 200k is $2000 not bad either.

I meant PPR. When you get a PPR then it most certainly mean that you have gotten a positive decision and would be a PR.
Not having a PPR means that your application is still in-process and that means any change might affect you.

That doesn't make sense. My application has been submitted and I'm waiting for them to process. Any changes should not affect people already being processed.

2% decrease of 22.5% is almost 10% decrease. It's not bad at all.

The thing that infuriates me about Conservatives attack ads is they always talk about tax hike, without mentioning it only applies for the richest group.

Scare tactics wins some uninformed and refuse-to-be-informed, but lose most Canadians.

Add:
Any responsible government will continue to process those application submitted under old government with existing rules. New rules made by the new government will only take effect for applications submitted after they are announced.
As a matter of fact, a new government hasn't been formed and approved by the governor yet (they will within a few weeks) so technically it's still run by conservative ministers as of now. (Except of course Stephen Harper who stepped down as PM yesterday and hence CPC are working to name an interim PM until Trudeau takes office)

Lol, changes can affect people who are still being processed. Remember people who got their app returned after several months because the CAP had been reached last year. Nothing is certain until your application has been processed and a decision made.

sorry i did not get ur calculations . current rate is 22% roughly and the article says it will be reduced to 20% something hence the 2% reduction.

The thing that infuriates me about Conservatives attack ads is they always talk about tax hike, without mentioning it only applies for the richest group.
ye they were playing politics of fear. Dark politics taught by the Australian Crosby or someone

Scare tactics wins some uninformed and refuse-to-be-informed, but lose most Canadians.
they were focusing on old stock canadians not immigrants hence the problem

Who said they were equivalent? They are many aspects to Canada's immigration system and too many people here are blinded by self interest.

Hi all,
What's the meaning of restoring the credit for foreign students? How it helps international students? Thanks for help in advance. Regards
Restoring credits refers to including the time u spent as a student in Canada for ur citizenship. Harpers govt neglected the time that was already spent by TWP holders and students.

Ur correct. Any changes that comes into effect will not affect applications already in process. Moreover, I dont think changes will happen any time soon. U need to give them some time to settle in, before they make any changes to the EE system (possibly mid of 2016). Intially, Liberals will be concentrating more towards refugees and second class citizenship.

Calm down :).

Refugee & family immigration programmes/streams are separate from skilled worker/EE programmes.

And you know what? There are some very talented and highly qualified refugees ...

Buddy ur misunderstanding the whole thing . After an applicant submits his application, they receive a confirmation saying that their application has been accepted and is being processed by an Immigration officer," Any new changes will not affect these applicants". What ur referring to is application that were sent back without being accepted " Just sending a paper application in the old process, doesn't mean it was accepted, unless you receive a file number and immigration officer, nothing was certain in the old method". Generic letters on CAP limitations were sent to applicants after a few months, just because your application was received and put on hold by CIC, but they had no need to inform u until they were certain about everything. Pls, get ur facts straight

Ok, instead of being nasty to me, there are ways to pass across your message. When you submit your application and you get a confirmation, that doesn't necessarily mean that your file is being automatically worked on. Haven't you heard of people who order the GCMS note and then discover that their app has never been touched by an Immigration officer?
Yes, it will take time before any changes would affect the EE system, because they need to reconvey and all, but any changes made might affect any application that is still being processed. Even with the normal processing, unless you get a DM or PPR, then nothing is certain. That was the point i was trying to make. I would suggest you digest what people say before you attack them.
