I'm quite convinced that Immigration will go after fraud cases where the spouse has dumped the sponsor shortly after receiving their PR card. I for one had to deal with this particular thing. I did not hear from Immigration, which is normal, due to the privacy rights of my spouse. However, I heard through other channels that she was deported within three months of my complaint.

So, what does one do when this happens to themselves? This is the long and short of what I did:

1) I kept meticulous notes when my spouse started doing strange things upon arrival. Via Google I'm sure you can find some typical examples. A lot of these cases follow several permutations of a particular pattern.

2) When I went to Immigration, I ensured that everything was extremely well organized, in a chronological order. Everything I said was backed up with facts. Nice, neat, tidy, and concise.

3) There are several sites which offer guidance when this happens, and who to contact. Contact and follow up.

4) Be patient, but persistent, and polite.

I'm sure that in a lot of these cases, the person doing the conning goes from lie to lie to lie, and cannot string them together. It was pretty obvious to me that this was occurring with my spouse.
Thank you

Guys im a new here..i was read each topics and comment but i still couldn't get how u guys could get marry before she or he land in Canada?
How come ? Like internet marriage or something? Could somebody explain me ?
Hi davidvsp:

If you marry a spouse then you sponsor her/him, it would be quicker than sponsoring father/mother/sister/brothers etc.
True marriages are for love and closeness builds on it. But fraudsters also use this marriage as a scam to get their Immigration status.

If I sponsor her as a visitor, if she arrives in Canada and runs off, Immigration Canada can easily deport her. But as a spouse, they want me to keep her.

Thanks

Good day! I've read in your posts about the alarming cases of marriage fraud in canada. And the shall i say "benefits" that the person committing the fraud will be getting, through sponsorship . And the “so sorry; nothing we can do.” part of the govt. No wonder, many are doing it

I am a Filipina wife, I have a husband who is now in Canada, sponsored by a canadian citizen. The facts are, I married my husband in 2008 here in the Phillippines because he made me to believe that his first marriage was already annulled. Then we got one child. But later on I discovered that the first marriage was not really annulled and so bad he also contracted to a second marriage in 2005 to another girl. Upon my discovery of his previous marriages, I filed a BIGAMY case in 2011. Last week the warrant of arrest was already released by court. But he is nowhere to find

this is because in oct 2010, he married a canadian citizen, making it the 4th marriage, though i can't locate their marriage cert in the national statistics office. and in july 2011 he already departed to canada, but in the bureau of immigrations he has no record of departure. i dont have papers to prove this, only pictures. he might have had used a different name in his documents and passport. i've contacted the canadian who sponsored him, told her that he has 3 marriages, and she did not believe me or she doesn't care because she is inlove????

i have no means of locating his whereabouts, i wanted him deported back here in the Philippines. we also have a child and he is not sending his parental obligations. i tried to bring this to the canadian embassy here in the philippines but they told me they are not accepting cases like these. if only i can find informations like his address in canada/ work in canada/ or the name he used in documents so that phil govt can locate him. is there anybody here who can help me? all i know are the girl's name, phone number, and current workplace and pictures, including some of the persons he is with right now. i really need all the information i can get . i dont have money to pay investigators in canada.here's my email address.. eleonor_loria@yahoo.com. thanks

You can try taking your case to the media, for example http://www.ctv.ca/

If he is Ontario, you can also see if these people: http://www.mcss.gov.on.ca/en/goodparentspay/index.aspx will help you.

Hi:

Last week, I got a call from Immigration Canada. Someone wants to hear from my ex-wife. But she is not my wife, she committed marriage fraud.
I felt relief that as a victim, Immigration Canada is taking my case of Marriage fraud seriously. But in my haste, I gave them information that I may had spotted her in 2 work places. However, I do not have her residential address.

Now, I think, I should have just said that I know nothing. Emotions are such a bummer. I hope my case against her goes ahead and I hope they accuse her of 'violation of Immigration laws' then have her deported.

Good luck for me.

It is very easy, if you know his name, his current "wife" name, send an email to Citizenship and Immigration Canada to inform them of the fraud. You can even email to Minister Jason Kenney as well as the MP of the place where these people live. All the contact emails can easily be found on the internet. You can also include his picture, the arrest warrant in your emails.

Hello. I have just found out that a girl here from Philippines on an LMO entered the country on a false passport, she used a sibling's birthdate and last name. She came and overstayed her 2 yr LMO by over a year. She then became involved with a Canadian and convinced him she could not get pregnant, but she did. No paternity test was done, he asked her to move in. That was in the fall. He has tried at least twice to breakup with her, but she cries and claims he is responsible for her problems. He feels trapped.

She worked illegally for months, then got paperwork in October so that she could get health care. She stopped work and went on maternity EI after 2 months into the LMO. Now she is pressing for a marriage.

She has numerous names she uses, and has recently tried to get an apt with the Philippine consultant on one of the Vancouver visits to the prairies but her name is not on the list. Does anyone know what happens if that visa isn't renewed? Does that mean she can't go back to her country?

I want to report her for her fraud. What would happen to her if this fraud was exposed regarding her true birthday and name? What would they do about the baby? She is due next month. Thanks for any help you can offer.

If any of what you said could be proven, she might have a problem. As for the guy, it is up to him if he wants to marry her or not. It doesn't seem like he is serious about breaking up with her or he already would have.

what kind of proof? would her admitting it in person in writing do it?
what could the consequences be? how about the baby? if deported does the baby go or stay?

I believe i read somewhere it is a criminal offense to tell someone he is the father of a child if DNA confirms otherwise.
thanks for your help. i will look for proof of some sort.

the boy is my son, you probably guessed that. does her not getting her Philipine passport renewed matter at all?

thanks again, i am a wreck about this.

I suppose her admitting it would be strong proof. If she gets deported, as the unwed mother of a young baby, the baby will probably stay with her.

I don't know about that one. Maybe if she knows that she is lying but she can always say that she thought that he was the father and did not purposely lie to him. Besides, how do you know that he is not?

Getting a passport renewed doesn't matter I think. If the boy is your son, you should tread carefully because although you are trying to help him, he might not see it that way. Most young adults to not appreciate their parents butting when it comes to their relationships.

Leon is right about treading carefully. After the lies you allege she's told, how sure are you this is infact your son's baby? I would definitely want to be sure about this first.

I don't think she will admit it into writing.. why would she do that. you need documents to prove her multiple identities.. like passports and identification cards.

if you submit the documents and report this to the canadian immigration she might be deported. as for the baby.. do not acknowledge the baby in the birth certificate let her have a dna testing first at her expense if you are unsure you're the birth father..
