Hi everyone,

I landed in Canada as a PR on September 17, 2025. Initially, my PR card photo was rejected by IRCC due to lighting issues, and I was asked to resubmit.

I uploaded the new photo on February 8, 2026, but I still haven’t received my PR card yet. It’s been almost 2 months since resubmission, and there are no updates so far.

Has anyone faced a similar delay after re-uploading photos? How long did it take for you to receive your PR card?

Would really appreciate any insights or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I'd try calling IRCC, and if that doesn't resolve things/situation not clear, try your MP's office. Just emphasize that for someone landed and living in Canada it causes problems not to have it and/or you have a need to travel soon.

Have you received your PR card yet? Did you upload your photo online or mail it to IRCC?

My photo also didn't meet the requirements; I mailed it through Canada Post, and it's been a month and a half with no feedback.

A two-month wait after a photo resubmission is unfortunately normal right now. When you get hit with a photo rejection, you lose your spot in the standard 45-day processing queue. IRCC manual reviews for resubmissions typically take an additional 2 to 6 weeks just to approve the new photo, plus another 2 to 4 weeks for printing and mailing. Since you resubmitted on Feb 8, you are right at the 8-week mark. If your IRCC portal doesn't show 'approved' by late April, you should submit a webform.

As a side note for anyone else reading this who just got the 'lighting issues' rejection: IRCC automated validators are notoriously brutal. Even if the photo looks bright to you, slight grey shadows on the background or face alter the contrast. Furthermore, standard digital compressors strip the exact 600 DPI metadata IRCC requires, triggering an automatic kickback.

I got so tired of seeing these exact portal loops that I built a free client-side tool called DocPixelKB. It forcibly injects the 600 DPI JFIF header back into the image and has a luminance threshold filter that turns grey background shadows into pure white without touching your face. It runs entirely in your browser so your biometrics are never uploaded to a server. If you get rejected again, run your raw file through the 'Canada PR' preset there before uploading
