I work for a non-profit childcare centre as an Infant Toddler Educator. Would this qualify under the C51 charitable work LMIA exemption code?
No. Being non profit doesn't make it truly charitable as it is a daycare. You require a LMIA.I work for a non-profit childcare centre as an Infant Toddler Educator. Would this qualify under the C51 charitable work LMIA exemption code?
Thank-you for your response! May i ask for the reasoning behind? I have been told yes by one immigration specialist and no from another and I am just trying to figure out which is correct!
The employer is a daycare not a truly charitable organization. If this were the case then most daycares in Canada could be eligible. Ask a lawyer.Thank-you for your response! We are a registered non-profit childcare centre that does receive subsidy from the government to make it a 10 dollar a day for low income populations to be able to afford daycare.Do you only serve low income and vulnerable populations? Are all spots subsidized?
But is the daycare in a low income area, are all users low income, are all users subsidized. Many daycares are registered non profits. Even the YMCA is a registered non profit, and cannot see them being eligible. The issue is that your work must be in vulnerable areas serving a low income area and being in the centre of that area. Your employer can try and if refused, then you will know.We are a registered non-profit childcare centre that does receive subsidy from the government to make it a 10 dollar a day for low income populations to be able to afford daycare.

Hello.
I am in the same boat.
Did you apply? If so, what was the outcome?
I have a job offer for a ECE position at a non profit daycareYou work at a non-profit daycare?
So your employer filed under C51? Having a job offer means nothing until employer files showing it is a charity, and your work is charitable.I have a job offer for a ECE position at a non profit daycare
I understand the process. I wanted to know if you were able to get your permit approved with the ece position at the non profit daycareSo your employer filed under C51? Having a job offer means nothing until employer files showing it is a charity, and your work is charitable.
Since you have approved C51 LMIA exemption from your employer then approval should be straightforward with your education, job experience letter, license (if required) and language tests. Getting the C51 LMIA exemption is the most difficult part and you are asking about work permit approval.I understand the process.
