Did you guys end up applying for a tourist visa for your overseas dependent? What were the results?

No.
I tried for my spouse and child, and rejected, waited one year. Applied, rejected.
The chances for they approve the visitor visa for your dependants is almost zero .
They use the "logic" that people with visitor visa will return to their country after the visit, but that is certainly impossible if you (the father, the mother or the spouse) are here. They assume people will stay. So according with their guidelines, they reject the visa.

Makes no sense, if apply, they will reject again and each time you apply must spend a lot of money in documents, translations a bunch of paper they request, and that money is lost. Better wait until the PR come. :/

Does having a PR makes much difference? I have PR now.

No I didn’t. Overseas dependent has been referred to overseas office already

Same for me.
Still waiting.
Their files are in visa office for their region and must wait until their assessment end and they will give to them a PR visa and they will travel to Canada and at the airport, oficially do the landing.

So if you apply for visitor, there is other application in progress.

No more to do than wait, sadly.

People stay fairly frequently which is why IRCC is reluctant to approve the TRVs.

Does having a PR makes much difference? I have PR now.

If anything there is a a higher risk that family will not return home given your PR status.

I applied with my family (no dependents) in Sept 2024 for PR under refugee class in Quebec, so the waiting time left is 69 months / 5.75 year, my God have mercy on me !

Based on the current IRCC processing time, it looks like could still have around 69 months (5.75 years) left to wait. My God, have mercy on u!

Ey. Don't panicking. That is an old post from 2025. Before the one time initiative. I just went to IRCC web page, this is now:

So it's fine. Many people of 2024 are now getting PR.
