Hey there - I'm with an employer trying to sponsor an employee for a francophone mobility work permit (so no LMIA needed) - I was wondering if there could be a "offer rescind" date on the offer letter where we could withdraw the offer in the event that the candidate isn't authorized to work within a reasonable amount of time (say four-six months). Would this be acceptable or would that interfere with the processing or approval of such a work permit?

Also - is there a particular format that the offer letter needs to follow? Our company normally does electronic offer letters but I figure that for the purposes of immigration a hand-signed letter would be necessary. Is that true?

Edit - it looks like the "job offer" is moreso a series of forms on the IRCC employer portal. Is there a necessity for an uploaded offer letter? Apologies for basic questions but this is my first foray into this process.

Let me know. Thanks!

I’d be cautious about adding a firm four- or six-month rescission date. The job offer needs to be genuine and available when the work permit is assessed, so a clause saying the offer automatically disappears after a certain period could potentially raise questions. As for the letter itself, I don’t believe it needs to be hand-signed simply because it’s being used for immigration. For Francophone Mobility, the employer submits the offer through the IRCC Employer Portal and provides the required employment details there. If IRCC doesn’t specifically request a separate signed offer letter, the electronic format your company normally uses should generally be sufficient. I’d still have the exact wording of any withdrawal clause reviewed by an immigration professional before submitting it.
