We submitted our application under the (SUV) Program in Sept 2021. To date, eligibility have been passed, However, the application remains pending due to ongoing security screening (A34), which has now been in progress for over 18 months In parallel, our initial work permit has expired, and we have submitted an application for an Open Work Permit (OWP), which has also remained pending for more than one year without any decision; we are suupprtive with priorty DO.

Any body can advise his experience with mandamus for similar case ? how many mandumus is going for SUV be succesfuly and how long will take ? will end with PR ?

Just wondering, is this renewal of the work permit inside or outside Canada?

Is your startup making revenue, you have created any jobs?

Guys just saw that the minister has formally responded to the petition, but do you guys think something would change, or does anyone has any little bit of information how things are progressing with IRCC

No new information then what is already known. If you are not inside Canada. and with a non-priority incubator, you will wait for as long as it takes. A couple of people also went to court to get IRCC to process their files quickly, but those cases were also dismissed. Sorry.

A lawyer said (see link below) that Start-Up Visa program applications from those backed by a designated entity that is not part of Canada’s Tech Network (CTN) will only be processed after all CTN applications are finished processing.

We applied for BI CTN SUV in September 2025 and the changes came to effect after that. Eventhough the PR application was submitted file number has not been issued yet. What would be our chances of getting prioritised ?

Nothing confirmed so far . It seems IRCC is in a very deep sleep

Guys, we've came forward as together and started this collective effort to show IRCC what is the impact Startup Visa can do the sinking Canadian economy. We're also approaching different Member of Parliaments, Incubators, Venture Capitalists to collectively fight for the cause. I request all members of this forum to come forward and show how much economic impact your startup have already made or going to make in future and what Canada is losing because of their delays.

Internal IRCC Emails Explain Why More Than 28,000 Start-Up Visa Applications Remain Unprocessed

Internal IRCC emails obtained through an Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) request provide new insight into the significant processing backlog affecting the Start-Up Visa (SUV) Program.

According to a February 6, 2026 internal email, IRCC reported that there were more than 28,000 "unpromoted" SUV applications and that the Permanent Economic Immigration Unit was developing measures to reduce the SUV inventory.

Another internal email explains why many applications remain unpromoted:

Before COVID-19, complete SUV applications were generally promoted for processing on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) basis after passing the completeness check.
Since 2020, changing priorities, operational challenges, and limited resources have led to a growing backlog.
Since 2024, IRCC has prioritized certain SUV applications based on program priorities rather than processing all files strictly in FIFO order.
The emails indicate that IRCC already had sufficient promoted inventory to meet admission targets, reducing the need to promote additional applications for processing.
Resource reductions, including budget-related staffing cuts in 2025, also contributed to delays.

These documents are internal IRCC communications, not an official policy announcement. However, they provide valuable context for applicants who have experienced prolonged periods without movement on their SUV applications and indicate that IRCC was actively considering measures to reduce the backlog.

Can anyone tell the timeline for Business Startup Visa Program for PR?
Processing times can vary depending on your application, country, and the current immigration workload. It's best to check the official immigration website for the latest processing times or hear from applicants who have recently completed the program.
