Took my citizenship oath virtually this morning (Friday, March 13th)! Thanks to everyone here for all of your help and for making me feel like I wasn't crazy or impatient during the past year! For everyone still waiting, wishing a speedy end to the process for you!

I applied for a passport using the Citizenship to Passport Pilot Program, will provide updates here. Submitted my documents, photo, receipt within a day or so of the invitation. Signed my oath form immediately after the ceremony ended and emailed it today.

Congratulations !

Can you use the same digital photo you uploaded for your citizenship application for the passport pilot program ?
OR - did you have to get a fresh one taken, since it was more than 6 months ago ?

My application took 9 months (from the actual AOR, 11 from my original submission, 10 from my second submission) to process so I did have to have new photos taken, yes.

Also, when does the passport pilot invitation usually come through (if one gets invited at all) ? - as in how many days before the ceremony date ?

I just received my invitation, the ceremony is still 8 days away.

This question is for the ones who got their passports with this way;
Can we use our cousins (in my case those are actually first cousin once removed) as references or they should be completely non-relative?

Thanks !

I received my invitation on March 3rd and my ceremony was on March 13th.

Just had to re-submit my Passport (Pilot Program). Apparently the signature in the "Optional" Emergency Contact section is mandatory even if you aren't submitting an emergency contact. The instructions also don't state this as required. Quite frustrating... Maybe I missed it else where but it's pretty counter intuitive to require something within an optional section.

Just got a tracker update that my switch from virtual ceremony (March 11) to in-person has a date ... April 15. Might be helpful to know that for anyone else considering the switch. (also see signature for any additional info)

I'll keep my eyes open for Passport Pilot Program and keep updating here in hopes the info can help someone else.

Looking forward to it (and crazy how the date is about 10 days past my 10 year anniversary of first arriving in Canada!)

Hello All.

My citizenship interview was on Feb 26 at Vancouver Visa office. My application includes 3 folks, myself, my wife and minor daughter. So, it was me and my wife at the interview.
The officer asked the usual questions which others have mentioned here such as our travels out of Canada and confirming some of the other details in our application like our place of residence etc. I think the officer is just trying to make sure that the applicant is genuine. On Feb 28, tracker was updated for me and wife saying LPP is done with Citizenship ceremony marked in progress. In the tracker they also mentioned the data of oath and mentioned i will get email soon on oath ceremony details. On March 4th, i got the oath details mail. So, here is my journey so far in the citizneship application process.

Residence : Vancouver
AOR : June 12 2025

Hello,

I recently applied for Canadian citizenship. I wanted to ask — is an interview required for everyone, or only for certain applicants depending on their case?

Thank you!
