Hello all, thank you in advance for reading and replying to this question.

For background i had received an ITA in Dec 2025 and had applied within the month for CEC PR. My original PGWP had expired in October 2025. I had applied for an extension of the work permit based on an LMIA application my employers had submitted in Jan 2025. In Feb 2026 i received rejection of my WP extension since i still hadnt received a reply from the LMIA application. This essentially left me out of status and i had not applied for a BOWP since i already had a WP extension application in progress.

I am currently out of status and have already submitted a restoration application for a visitor record.

My main question would be that how much will this affect my processing time for my PR application? I was expecting to hear back by April if i got lucky and thanks to Gemini, it mentions that my application will now take 8-10 months to process. Has anyone experienced this? Would love to know thoughts and experiences!

Oh man, that's a rough spot to be in. I feel for you.

So here's the thing about your PR application timeline. Being out of status doesn't automatically trigger some massive delay where they shove your file to the bottom of the pile. But it does make your application more complicated, and complicated files just naturally take longer.

Current processing for CEC is sitting around 7 months right now. That's the official number. But your file isn't straightforward anymore because there's extra stuff for the officer to look at. The work permit refusal, the pending restoration, the LMIA situation - they've got to verify all of that.

The 8-10 months Gemini threw out is probably leon-casinos.fr a safe guess. Could be 7, could be 9. Nobody really knows because every file moves differently. Some people get lucky and it sails through. Others get stuck in security screening forever.

The good news is you did the right thing applying for restoration. That shows you're trying to fix your status instead of just ignoring it. Officers do notice that kind of thing.

Honestly the best thing you can do now is just wait and make sure IRCC has your current contact info. If they need something from you, respond fast. That's really the only part you can control at this point.

Anyone else been through something similar? Curious if people actually saw big delays or if it worked out okay.

It will not affect your PR application.

Why don't you apply for BOWP?
I already had a LMIA based WP extension on file. The immigration consultant i was working with told me that if i apply for another work permit application, both will get rejected on the same day due to multiple applications for the same category.

Definetly hectic as i am now out of work for potentially 6+ months depending on how long it takes to process.

On the other hand, ChatGPT mentions that some officers may not wait for the status to renew and may just issue the eCOPR regardless. I applied in December so currently hoping to hear back around April or May for P1/P2.
