Based on the 210 days expected working time, I'd answer yes to that.
Short answer: No — it’s usually too early to apply now.
IRCC generally expects work permit renewals to be submitted about 1-2 months before expiry. (Presume)

Applying early is likely to be:
  • Returned as premature, or
  • Delayed until you are within a reasonable timeframe, or
  • Approved but issued with unnecessary limitations (short validity) and
  • Wasted time, If returned, you’ll have to reapply.

Applied to renew on Dec 27, 2025

Approved for 2 year WP on Feb 03, 2026. Mine was about to be expired in March 2026. This is my 4th two year WP. Status PROTECTED PERSON.

Thanks

I think you presume wrongly? On the advice of an immigration lawyer (not consultant), I submitted renewals around 3-4 months early, back when this was roughly the processing time - and managed to get my new permits before the old ones had expired.

Agreed, but important keyword here: usually

So when I wrote that answer it was before the reports had trickled in that newer applications were getting processed faster, in more reasonable timeframes, and also for an OP who was specifically looking to travel around the time of the old permit expiring (since you can't travel on maintained status or with an WP-EXT letter and keep maintained status, that might be a case where you're okay with risking a shorter validity in return for being assured of being able to travel and return).

Huh. I'm surprised to hear that IRCC does this.
