Does anyone got a second pre arrival letter here? How long does it take a medical request come after pre arrival letter?

Yes it sometimes happens. There is no common timeline between both. Prearrival is an administrative step that happens any time after eligibility and is not really related to processing timelines. Is this their first medical? Have they passed their backgrounds check?

Hi everyone,


I’m sponsoring my parents under the PGP program and wanted to check with others who have gone through this stage. My parents received their medical exam request on December 18 and completed their medicals shortly after.


I’m trying to understand what typically happens next in the process.

• How long does it usually take to receive the COPR after medicals are passed?
• Once COPR is issued, within how many months do they need to enter Canada to “land” and activate their PR status?

Any recent timelines or experiences would be really helpful. Thank you.

Have they passed their background checks? Is this their 2nd medical? You typically have 1 year to land from your medical.

No medical request yet. Thats what we are waiting for at this time. Done biometrics, police clearance and paid RPRF.

To those who have a hard time linking their application to their GCKey account, here is what the IRCC customer service told me in linking the application:

1. Make sure that the Last Name is CAPITALIZED.

2. On the part where you put the number of family members, put the NUMBER of ADULTS in the box (if spouse DIDN’t co-sign, EXCLUDE them). On my application: I have 2 kids, my wife as a co-signer, my self, and my mom and dad. This was where I messed up as I kept putting 6 as the number. It should just be “4”.

For E.G -
A. Enter the application number without the prefix ‘X’.
B. Under Applicant Details, enter the Principal Applicant’s UCI number (if available — you can find it on their visitor visa and search with passport details).
C. Set the number of applicants to ‘3’, and if you are adding your spouse as a co-signer, try setting it to ‘4’.

I finally linked my Parents application and able to see the progress.

A 2nd pre-arrival for 1 of the applications came on Jan 5, 2026. This was followed by PPR on Jan 16, 2026. Passports have gone for stamping. 2nd application no update after the Nov 8 pre-arrival.

Does anyone have a copy of what forms are filled at port of entry for landing? I just want to prepare the parents on what paperwork to expect.

Don't know if this update helps anyone, but sharing my experience.

My parents received biometric request in April 2025. They were in Canada on a visit then, so we booked an appt at Service Canada and got their biometric (and photo) done there. Status was updated on the application as well.

Thereafter, they received medical request (which we completed), additional document request (which we provided) and pre-arrival services letter (and a subsequent reminder) - both of which we ignored as it doesn't mean anything concrete.

Then, out of the blue, in Jan 2026, received a repeat biometric request mentioning earlier biometric was not clear! Let me re-state that - Biometric # 1 was done at Service Canada location in Canada in April 2025 and after 9 months, they say to repeat it because the fingerprints and/or photograph was not clear!

Anyways, we just have to follow along. Got second biometrics done, this one outside Canada (no need to repay the fee). Now, the wait continues.

01 August 2024: Application submitted
24 February 2025:Additional document( requested proof of relationship document and CV for both parents )
23 march 2025: Documents submitted
30 April 2025: PCC requested ( application number starts with F... centre: mississauga )
12 June 2025: PCC submitted : ( also sent new passports for both parents )
18 September 2025: Biometrics requested
19 September 2025: Biometrics submitted

no updates since then. ( waiting for medical request and all next steps )

Hello All, looking for an advice. Applied for the in laws and we have submitted the PCC and Biometrics last and now waiting for medical. Meanwhile, we have welcomed our baby a few months ago. We called the call center to ask how to update the family size number since the webform only has the option for principal applicant to submit information, but does not have the sponsor to submit information. Call center agent could not provide the right direction and seemed confused like we are. Would anyone here be kind enough to guide us please?
