Hi! I need a transit visa for a two-hour layover. I see a question in the visa form that says, "Have you had a mental health condition causing you to be a threat to yourself or others, or to be hospitalized?". I was hospitalized due to a suicide attempt a long time ago and take psychiatric meds; however, right now I'm a perfectly stable and functional adult, and my treatment works extremely well. I know many people recommend not disclosing this type of information on visa applications and say that what they care about is your mental state right now. Still, it's a little scary that they might ban me from entering Canada in general for misrepresenting myself or something. What should I do? I really am in a good place mentally and don't want to risk rejection if I disclose I was very depressed as a teenager lmao

The question is "have you had" which is past and current conditions. Your choice whether to be honest or not.

When is your flight and are there other options to not fly through Canada.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post. I would fly in December, and most of the routes I can find have layovers through Canada; the other ones are way too expensive. I don't want to lie, but I'm scared I could get rejected or something. I see your profile says you are active in this forum, so I would really appreciate your opinion. What do you recommend? Have you ever heard of a similar situation?

Edit: There are also flights through the U.S, but 1: the visa process is way too long, and 2: they are not very fond of Latin Americans at the moment, so I'd rather not risk getting rejected because of my ethnicity.

What country because it is November and may not get a decision by December? Country flying to? Can you not fly through Mexico? Your choice on being honest or not as if it shows up in any of your immigration/security/criminal checks then it will be an issue.
